Jay's Tavern Beer Garden — Restaurant in New York

A simple dive located on the East side of the Bronx. Been performing here for the last couple of years. I keep coming back because the drinks are cheap, there’s a 420 friendly back area with seating, shades and a grill. Once a Month (sometimes more during the summer) they do parties with a live DJ and offer free food or food for purchase as well as comedy shows with no cover charge or Drink minimum. The Bartender (named Viv) slings a good drink. Shes a hit with the regulars. She is the event planner who puts together the theme nights and shows. Average cost of a drink is btwn $8-$10. Nothing fancy about this place but I like a bar that unpretentious. Pros: They take credit cards. They have a Pool table, darts, live music, good bartender, good location, good late 30s to early 50s crowd. Cons: Only one bathroom. I love this bar i use to come here on my breaks when I worked in Williamsbridge manor which was right infront of the bar lol the older italian lady that bartends there she is really sweet and the young girl on Saturdays but to be honest the regulars that come in I guess which are men they make it very uncomfortable for other men for instance me and my brother and my fiancé was there just wanted to drink hear music and just enjoy right away they felt uncomfortable the guys were starein talking looking and it’s very childish and makes no one wanna stay or be there at that which is a shame cause it can be a nice bar if they just change up the ppl that come in make it alittle more...

I'm a former bartender with 15 years experience and I have to say. This place needs some work. The beer tap is dirty. Had 2 different beers both tasted off. The orange I was given with my Blue Moon was old and smelly it ruined my beer. The bartender was not friendly AT ALL She and the man she was speaking to actually looked annoyed when we walked in..Didn't smile once or say thank you even when she was tipped. The only benefit to this place is it has an outside for people who smoke. Very disappointing. Go...
