My friends and family and I have been coming to this place for over three years now. It's a good place to order Chinese food. They also have american type foods. The dishes over rice is their version of lunch special and is available at those prices from opening til closing. That food is quite reasonable. Everything else is more costly.
Food is always good but you need to get someone who speaks English if you wish to customize something from the menu. Most of the time everything is perfect but general tso and orange chicken and some other similar dish you'd have to tell them"not so much sauce" unless you enjoy your chicken floating in sauce. Just a fyi.
Service is good however they seem to cater more to other Asians first so you might need to walk over to the server to let them know whenever you're ready or if you need something. Try to avoid getting Frannie (unless she's always nice to you). She gets Moody/cranky often.
One last thing. As good as the food is there at this place I recommend not ordering delivery. We ordered twice and the food was either olf, dry or just not good. So take your chances.
BTW their sesame cold noodle dish is incredible. Can't find anywhere else in Brooklyn that makes it as good as NYC restaurants. Their sushi rolls are excellent too. Oh and they give you good portions of food compared to the restaurant across...
Read moreI usually order their chow ho fun or baked rice from here but recently decided to explore some other options. While their food is good depending on what you order. It’s really important to know as a restaurant what you’re serving before you put it on the menu... I ordered the “Double cooked pork” over rice today. It’s not usual to see this dish over rice so I was curious. My expectation was very simple, double cooked pork with some chives. However upon opening the dish there was an extreme amount of random ingredients as well as a very oily sauce? I had to dump half the stuff out because to be quite frank it was just soaked with oil. It’s very hard to eat. The pork is technically suppose to be a pork belly piece but it seems like random cuts, which is whatever but not the least bit crispy due to the mass of sauce. It was eventually just unappetizing and I stuck with the soup and rice instead. The dish itself is a pain to make which is why I wanted to order it. It was disappointing seeing as this place usually has pretty affordable and decent food. However I would probably stay away from a majority of the “over rice” section aside from the roasts and a very few selection of others. Majority of the time it was just way too oily for me, personally.
At least the hot and sour...
Read moreBaked cheese with rice/spaghetti at a Chinese restaurant? Yes! I haven't seen these dishes anywhere but Xo Kitchen in the city. And it's really good! They also serve sushi here as well, but I don't think that's their forte. The food comes out quick, the portions are HUGE, the service was super friendly and attentive, what more can you ask for? They having dining with an outside view and colorful lights and their tables have really beautiful art and their cups are adorable too!
Baked Filet Fish with Sweet Corn ($7.95)- 5/5 The fish was nice and crispy and the cheese was baked to perfection. The corn itself is not too sweet and complements the fish and rice nicely.
Shrimp with Broccoli- 4/5 This came with white rice and a good portion of shrimp and broccoli. However, I think it had a bit too much sauce.
Dry Sauteed Calamari ($6.25)- 4/5 This portion was a bit on the smaller side but it was still good, although it did have a slight floury taste to it. The toppings such as the garlic could have been more finely chopped but that's no biggie.
Curry Fish Ball- 5/5 They give you 10 fish balls and a lot of sauce, which was great, because I used it for other dishes too, since it was delicious.
Thai Ice Tea- 4/5 This was good but not the best I've had. It's not...
