It is May 14th and I’m still sitting at my table as I write this on what could be my 100th visit to Joe and John’s. They are, in my opinion, the best a pizzeria can achieve. Newly remodeled, the space reflects the attention to detail in their offerings. What cemented my love for Joe and John’s was their deflection from American standards like a meat lover’s for inventive recontextualizations of classic Italian dishes like Cacio e Pepe, or Bruschetta with Straciatella (while still retaining enough NY pizza shop meta mainstays like pepperoni and bbq chicken). The reason I’m writing this though is that on May 14th I had the best slice of pizza in my life. I just got a basic Sicilian corner slice, it was 12:33 PM, a rainy day, and I can’t tell if Joe and John’s is just divinely chosen to serve the most universal, omnisatisfactory pizza on earth. I think yes, or the dew point was perfect for the dough, maybe I’ll never know but as for the last 2 years, I’ll always be back. Thank you Sal & James, love you Joe...
Read morePeople I have to tell you, after years of not going to Joe & John's Pizza because I moved from the area, I went back a few days ago with my grandson's class, they had a trip. I was amazed. They moved right next door. It's a beautiful, warm, welcoming place. Staff is amazingly loving and caring. I enjoyed seeing the kids make their own pizza and eating it. When I reached home, I immediately said, "I want pizza for dinner, I was so happy they delivered to my neighborhood." The pizza was delicious, so delicious that I ate the crispy crust yummy yummy! My family enjoyed it. I had leftovers. I don't like leftover pizza, but let me tell you the next day, I put a slice in the toaster oven and OMG! It was just as delicious as the day before. Would definitely be ordering again. Thank you all at Joe & John's Pizzeria for such delicious pizza and great hospitality. Thank you, Ms. Zaharas and Ms. Marino @ PS 91 ( I hope the spelling is right. If not, my apologies). Thank you for scheduling such a...
Read moreI found this spot by accident. We were literally eating Thai Food about a block away & this pizzeria caught our eye. It had NYCs favorite turtles painted outside. So, we had to check them out! Even though we just had Thai food!
Decor: Outside is totally awesome. Interior not as awesome but clean & you get the typical pizzeria vibes. Nice and clean.
Staff: super polite. Smiling. Greets you as you wait.
Food: Pizzas looked amazing. Sadly, one that I saw from a photo was finished & it was near closing so - I’ll be back for it! We had a pepperoni square, vodka slice, and sausage and rabe. They were all super yummy. The vodka sauce was delicious! The pepperoni square was great. Loved the crunch on the pepperoni. The sausage slice was good but the rabe was bitter. Not their fault.
Price: standard pizza joint prices
We definitely will be back to try their other slices.
Parking is rough...
