I normally never review places because I understand what itās like to have to work in customer service and maybe have one off day, but today I realized this Kinship wasnāt just having one off day. I live in the building where this kinship is located and loved the convenience of grabbing coffee there. The wait time is normally long, but they put a lot of effort into making the coffee taste great so itās usually worth it. But today the normally rude staff was especially rude. My mother ordered a mocha latte and later realized she forgot to note with almond milk. Before the coffee was made she told the woman with short blonde hair and another woman to please use almond milk. They faintly responded but acknowledged. When her order came up, they had made it with whole milk. We watched the woman look a little defeated and say āoh shitā. We assumed she would correct it, but continued to serve everyone else. After 10 minutes my mother asked how long it would her order would take. The woman indicated that she made what was on the ticket. My mom told her she asked for almond milk and the woman rudely replied itās going to take a while! We asked for a refund and no one even apologized! They acted like it was a privilege for US to drink their coffee. My mothers a nurse who took care of covid patients during the height of the pandemic and still does, so she definitely doesnāt deserve to be treated this way, especially when their coffee is already $7.50+.
My advice: go to Mighty Oak Roasters down a few blocks. Their coffee is just as good and EVERYONE there is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a rude treatment! Customers specially when they come to you under heavy rain would expect a warm welcome. I took one step inside and realized I lost my mask on my electric bike ride under heavy rain and the lady yelled at me saying I must get out because I was without a mask. I immediately took one step out and I was out. I rode a e-bike there to pick up coffee befoee they close. It was a day when it was raining like crazy. I could not believe how mean she sounded to me. While I literally rushed to make it there. i was yelled at because I took one step in without a mask.(i was running in from the rain) I was completely wet. Most businesses offer masks to customers. The lady literally threatened me saying she would call the police. I was refused to be given service becuase it was 10 minutes earlier and she was closed already and I took one step inside the store without a mask. People take their masks off when they sitdown at restaurants. For gods sake. What the hell is yelling at a customer and refusing to service even if they are 10 mins before closing. This business do not respect their own store hours. Be prepared to be refused or finding them closed at a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI started off by going to the original kinship on Steinway so Iām glad to see one open up closer to home. The espresso here is consistent with a wonderful sweetness to it. The space is also bright and airy and itās cool to see they roast their own beans here. The location is excellent and they have a small bit of outdoor seating so I can only see them getting busier and busier as the weather gets nicer and everyone heads out to the park.
What I donāt like is how pricey it is. I understand quality coffee is money and Iām clearly not that bothered since I keep coming back but an iced oat milk latte rings in at $6.75 before tip whereas the same thing a few blocks down at mighty oak is about $1 less. They do have punch cards tho which is nice. My last qualm is that even though the space is nice, thereās really only two good tables to do work at. If you canāt get one youāre gonna have to use your...
