Came to have afternoon tea for my birthday, we were 2 people. We were very excited to try afternoon tea at the acclaimed original St. Regis. We were seated in good time by the hostess but that’s about the best thing about the afternoon.
My partner has a shellfish allergy, so we asked the host when he came around to replace the shrimp and lobster options with cucumber sandwiches. They replaced the shellfish sandwiches but with two egg sandwiches and not cucumber sandwiches. Clearly great attention to detail. We brought this up to the attention of the service director who apologized and brought over cucumber sandwiches and additional desserts.
The afternoon tea tray stand was loose and needed a quick 5 second screwing. See picture.
On the tray were uneven savoury and scone portions for two people. When we asked for the even portion, instead of bringing us the right amount of savoury items they just added more desserts on our tray. By this point we had the same amount of savoury items as the beginning but three times the dessert. We hardly touched any of the desserts!
Host didn’t even come by to check up on us, we had to fetch him.
The ability to listen here is really lacking. The host wasn’t even paying attention, we would tell him we don’t want more hot water in our tea, what would he do? Pour more hot water. They offered a glass of champagne complimentary (not sure for birthday or as a good gesture) however I told him I don’t drink and don’t want it, he still poured me a glass?!

Astor Court at the St. Regis provided a delightful backdrop for our 'tis-the-season' outing, enchanting us with its beautifully adorned interiors that perfectly captured the spirit of Christmas.
Stepping into the St. Regis during the holiday season was like walking into a winter wonderland. The hotel's decorations were a visual treat, with Astor Court standing out as a highlight. The restaurant, with its innate elegance and charm, was a sight to behold, offering a warm and inviting ambiance that felt both luxurious and cozy.
While the hotel itself could benefit from a bit of rejuvenation, the overall experience was nothing short of lovely. My only wish was for a touch more Christmas spirit in the menu – perhaps some festive-themed dishes or a special treat for guests, like Christmas cookies, to fully embrace the holiday cheer.
Our dining experience was made even more memorable by the exceptional service we received from Mohammed, our server. His attentive, accommodating, and genuinely warm demeanor ensured we felt special and well cared for throughout our meal. It's the kind of service that makes a meal not just a culinary experience but a cherished memory.
In summary, Astor Court at the St. Regis is a wonderful choice for those seeking an elegant dining experience, especially during the holiday season. With its beautiful setting and top-notch service, it's a place where the magic of the season comes to life, even if just a dash more holiday flair in the menu would make it...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel on the 14-16th of november 2023. Everything was great. Hotel, the room, check in, the butler and the overall service was exceptional.
The only big let down of this hotel is during breakfast in the morning of the 16th at the astor court.
When we came to breakfast around 9am, the host was ignoring us, and gave us the worst seat at the back (in front of king cole bar), while other and better seat in the middle or the side was clearly available.
After we were seated, we requests to the waiter to move us to other table and the waiter was really helpful and gave us other table. Soon after the host lady (long hair, always kept glasses on the head) came to the waiter and asks him why we moved and should’ve told us that the table was reserved. We can see the way she look at us and hear everything from our table.
It is a clear example that she was very racist towards asian. About 30 minutes later another asian came and she gave them our previous table.
This is a big letdown for a St Regis brand, and as a Marriot Bonvoy Titanium member this is simply the worst experience that we had...
