A nightmare for $1000+ a night. Absolutely horrible. If youโre old and white this is probably the place for you because theyโll love and respect that here but if youโre not, save your money. Iโve stayed at many 5 star hotels all around the world and recognize certain behaviors RIGHT AWAY. The judgement and lack of service / bad service the second they see youโre young and not white their attitude is dripping with bitterness. Letโs start with even checking in, the man was extremely rude and stiff. He barely greeted us and this was the first time we did not get a full welcome where they let you know SOME information about the hotel such as bar, restaurant , pool, when it opens and closes. We also did not get the Amex greeting where they let us know of our credits & such we had to call and ask about itโฆ we wouldโve never knew if we didnโt reach outโฆ We came to celebrate a birthday so we asked if it was possible to get an upgrade, the man doesnโt skip a beat he belts out โNO!โ without bothering to check. If there were no upgrades available thatโs okay but be professional at the very least. We tried to ask one more time via chat thinking maybe we would be connected with the other concierge but it was the same man. He replied โNo. I already told youโฆโ even on text it was laced in so much attitude. Iโm confused about the reviews of the โnicest staffโ ever because most of the staff are absolute snobs who feel they are too pretentious and above to be serving somebody young and not white which is below obvious.
(Deleted some of my review to add in the food SUCKS worst hotel food Iโve ever had. The bill doesnโt make sense either they add on 20% of your room cost to the bill. SO DRY. )
Moving on with our massage which was $600 each not including tipโฆ We are usual goers of 5 star spas aka multiple times a month and getting a massage is one of our favorite activities. Save your money and go elsewhere for your massage PLEASE. I had an old, wrinkly, bitter, white woman named Sarah. Iโve never experienced such horrible disgusting service. Her eyes were extremely judgmental the second she laid eyes on me and saw I was 1/3 her age. Her already excessive frown lines deepened after our session. She barely greeted me it was more so a mumble, my partners masseuse was polite and said what needed to be said. Sarah said nothing and was pulling and yanking around wordlessly, she tugged my long hair very aggressively. At every single 5 star spa experience Iโve gone to, they gently place my hair to the side and they ALWAYS ask or announce before touching my hair as courtesy. When I dozed off for a second during my massage and woke back up soundlessly, I think she supposed I was asleep and I felt her saying something to the other masseuse, she then uses hot stones on me after I said I didnโt want the add-on. Out of every massage Iโve ever gotten that included hot stones, none have ever been too hot for me because I love heat. These were scorching to the point where itโs dangerous because I have deep red marks left from it. I am well mannered unlike my masseuse and I donโt complain because like I said Iโve never had storms that were too hot so I just try move around quietly trying to get them off and itโs my partners masseuse that immediately comes over and asks if theyโre too hot and takes them off and goes โoh my gosh.โ Because they were HOT even after the 30 seconds Iโve had them on. After the massage, only my partners masseuse was there to greet us.
The rooms are ok, not that comfortable. The bed hurt, my back it was SO uncomfortable. The mirrors were rusting on one side. Corners were dusty and not well cleaned. Steam cleaners are an easy fix to that, it would feel much cleaner and more worth the $1000+ a night. The carpet doesnโt feel clean enough to walk on bare feet which makes the room feel even more uncomfortable, thereโs odd stains throughout the carpet and it seems like it hasnโt been replaced in a long time. The chairs could also use replacing the fabric has rips everywhere. The room just felt kind of dingy and I wasnโt...

I don't lie in my reviews. If I like something, I give it credit. If not, I have no trouble typing a long post about it.
My experience here was nothing but positive. From the moment I exited the car, the doorman opened the door with a smile.
My boyfriend didn't have to bring our suitcases up to the room, another worker took care of that. Not sure if that's the standard for this hotel but it's worth noting because other hotels don't do this in my experience.
Check in was a breeze. The desk lady complimented me, my outfit, and my nailbeds which was totally random but I liked the exchange nevertheless.
The room was spacious and it smelled good. I'm not sure what kind of cleaning product or air freshner they used but I liked it. We walked in to a welcome note with goodies. Strawberries, chocolate, and a small box of facial products sitting on a desk. This room wasn't booked under my name so I didn't know what to expect.
The washroom was oober clean. Being a bit of a germaphobe makes me check every corner and crevice of ANY public place. Not one speck of dirt was found. I like how the toilets are soft closing too. The tub and standing shower were seperate. Our closet was large and walk-in which is impressive to me because everything in NY is crammed together and small when it comes to space and organization.
I got to visit the spa. I think her name was Karla or Carlie? She was amazing. I felt at ease and relaxed.
I am EXTREMELY proud to report there were no rats, bed bugs or critters of any kind. [Came to NY when I was 12, stayed at a different well known hotel and it had all of those pests. Disgusting. It put me off and I never wanted to return. However, at the age of 25, I wound up here due to networking and the people involved chose this location for me. I'm glad I got a second chance to experience the best part of New York - that includes this hotel.]
The breakfast was exceptional, the service was top tier right round, the hotel itself made me feel safe. I love the incorporations of their signature color. The overthrow on the bed with their branding is surely made of high quality material. It reminded me of my cashmere blanket at home.
I wanted the Baccarat shampoo and conditioner to take home but didn't know if I could.
The Grand Salon is a must visit. Went on a weekend without reservation obviously and was seated immediately at a table of our choice.
Honestly, we were treated like royalty here. All hotels should aspire to be like this. Welcoming, efficient, friendly, luxurious, clean, stylish, and safe. If I were to visit again I'm [only] staying here. Any where else would be a downgrade.
I'm not big on taking pictures, I don't care for it in general but I regret not doing so in this case, so everyone could actually see what it's really like.
A genuine thank you to those [literally every worker I encountered] who went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant,...
