I've had better stays at Motel 6! The Shoreham seems to only have one person working the front desk at all times. The gentleman was fine, but this leads to long waits to even speak with someone there. We didn't notice this until night time but the heater wasn't working. There was a thermostat there, but it did nothing as we adjusted it. There was a standalone unit in the room that blew cold air so that was useless. It also used one of the very few plugs in the room available to us. This unit is the kind that needs to have a tube venting through a window which lead to VERY noisy nights. I was expecting noise because of the location, but I wasn't planning on being able to hear every single noise outside because the window was never technically shut since the unit needed to vent. We heard every car, truck, and scream...yes scream, outside our window. We brought up the fact that the heater wasn't working. We were told someone would come up. We waited a few hours and no one showed up so we ended up going to sleep in that freezing room again. Spoiler alert...it was never fixed. The shower was scary. It had black mold in it so showering was unpleasant. The bathroom needs to be redone altogether. The carpet was covered in stains. We have no idea what kind of stains they were and I don't think I want to know. I really wish they had provided slippers knowing what kind of condition the carpets are in. The cabinets in the room was so dirty we didn't feel comfortable putting our clothes in there. The hair dryer was broken. The hotel was able to replace it. Oh and there was no wifi because apparently it can run out?? So I was unable to do work there. When we asked about it, we were told they could maybe move us to a room the next day with access. No idea what that meant. We were able to get wifi the next morning so it looks like it's a first come first serve for the day type of coverage. Once in, it wasn't great wifi either. The only positive thing it has going for it was location. It was near Central Park and lots of shopping. But for the price, I suggest staying anywhere else. I was hoping that the reviews were being harsh, but they were spot on. How in the world this place is considered a 4 star hotel is beyond me. Other things to consider: No mini fridge. No mini bar. No microwave. Very few plugs. One side of our bed didn't even have ONE plug available. It should be a huge red flag when there is no phone in the room to even call the lobby.

This was the worse experience at a hotel. First off, we called from the airport about two hours before arriving at the hotel, asking for a crib to be in the room when we got there and they said it would be. We arrive and there is no crib in the room and we had to call the front desk again about the crib being delivered. The room was extremely small, nothing like any of the pictures shown on the website. The bathroom was tiny and it was hard to close and open the door because the toilet was so close. The bathroom looked like they had taken the decor from a local jail. The bathroom door was not able to close due to a weak magnet being the only thing that held it closed. We called maintenance about it and all he said was that we should close the door very slowly to get the magnet to latch. Needless to say, you have no privacy when you're in the bathroom. The television looked like they plugged their cable into a neighbors cable box. It was absolutely terrible, all channels had a "snow" on them and the remote worked only occasionally. We also pointed this out to maintenance and he said that they'd check it out. It never got better. The bed was curved in the middle, so you were perpetually sleeping in an inclined position, rendering it impossible to sleep on your side or stomach. The windows were so thin that you could hear people on the street talking from 6 floors up, and hear the rowdy hotel bar crowd screaming. They were painting the building while we were there and the smell of paint inside the room was nauseating. The building is quite old, and not in the cool way. My husband went downstairs to get some plastic cups because they were never replenished when the room was cleaned and they told him they would send some up, it never happened so i called down and they had someone bring some up and he basically threw the cups at me. No coffee pot, but you could order a pot for like 9 or 10 bucks, no microwave, no fridge. We ended up checking out early, forfeiting money that we'd paid for the whole week because it was so terrible.

Please Read !!!!😂😖👎

This "4 star" hotel is a 2 star hotel at best! The pictures you may be viewing prior to making your decision on whether or not to book here,, are not recent. Shoreham is catfishing you.. i learned the hard way ..... sorry not sorry..... read below 🙃

I spent one horrible night here, and feel very compelled to write this review.. it is from my stay over a month ago. I have not posted anything as I was giving the business the chance to do the right thing, but sadly then would prefer to keep a whopping 90$ than protect their reputation. If they value themselves and their brand that poorly, how do do think they value you as a guest? Not very great..... Keep reading..... đŸ€”

While staying here, 2 security guards come knocking on the door claiming that a smoke alarm was going off in my room (which was not) I opened the door and the 2 guards quickly walked in and verified that there was no smoking in the room. I was wondering wth is going on, and wondering if I should be expecting another bang on the door. Made me feel very uneasy the remainder of the night, to say the least. Later on, I went to open the window for fresh air, and the entire window (which is very old and heavy) fell onto my hands! It was not in the track at all, nor was there a blocker / screw to prevent the window from opening all the way (Which is in violation of the NYC dept of buildings mandate that requires a "limiting device" shall be placed on every window in any area occupied by persons age 10 or under - automatically applies to hotels and common areas of residential buildings). This was complete negligence on part of the Hotel. When I approached the front desk, I was given some ice for my hand and switched to a smaller room. If I fell out of that window this would be a very different situation.

Later on after checking out, my hand damaged and in pain, I requested a refund (through priceline). They were told by the hotels Mgr that a refund will not be given, AND they will charge a $250 smoking fee to my room if I continue tk pursue a refund. I DID NOT SMOKE IN ROOM! đŸ˜€

Oh yeah, I wanted to stream a movie from my phone but guess what... the TV's in this "4 star" hotel are SO OLD they don't have HDMI ports 😂 I inquired about a room with a newer model TV and was told that every room has the same TV.... sorry đŸ€· instead I was able to treat myself to the default hotel TV channel, as the remote was not working and was never fixed as per my request. This default channel was so memorable, I can verbatim repeat every word: "WELCOME TO NEW YORK! AND THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING THE SHOREHAM HOTEL. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY WITH US 😉 WELCOME TO NEW YORK! AND THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING THE SHOREHAM HOTEL. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY WITH US😉 WELCOME TO NEW YORK..... ...... its the definition of torture.

This place is ran by the devil. No doubt.

This place needs to be shut down. ASAP!

Spend the extra $10 on one of the 100's of other hotels in the area. You will be...

We stayed here for 4 days from 7/18. Honestly we were nervous about staying here after reading some of the reviews leading up to our stay. We stayed in a one bedroom suite which was a bit roomier than just a one bedroom. Now don't get me wrong, the room/suite was basic but not so much that we weren't comfortable. It could also use some updating but again, we were comfortable. The room was clean and neat, however we always use our disinfecting wipes to go over the bathroom, phone and countertops anyway, but it was just fine. The bathroom was kind of small and narrow, but it was quite adequate. In our bathroom there was actually a shower stall with jet showers from the sides as well as overhead, and then there was a tub with a shower - quite nice. We read somewhere that the beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. In our room the bed was really very comfortable, when we got back home my husband said he misses the bed at the hotel and we have an expensive bed. Our teenager slept on the sofabed (glad we bought sheets for that as it had a few stains on it) and she said it was very comfortable. Our sheets and towels were changed everyday and our room neatened up. Now there was a kind of massage chair that was in the room which we didn't use, that was definitely old and could be thrown out - it was a bit of an eyesore.

The other thing that needs to go is the fabric type of headboard, along with the fabric covering the wall that houses the tv in the bedroom. Anything that is fabric like that, in my opinion can be a breeding ground for bugs and moisture, plus it looks old and there were some stains on it.

All the staff from the folks who graceiously clean the rooms to the front desk staff and doormen were so friendly and professional - we were very pleased.

Quite honestly for the location of this hotel, one block from Central Park I don't think one could ask for anything more. After all when you're on vacation in NY, you hardly spend much time in your room. My family and I would highly recommend this hotel at least from our experience in our room and would definitely stay here again. In fact I would love to stay in the same room. Thank you to all the staff at The Shoreham Hotel for making our stay a very pleasant one. Ms Andrene McColough and your staff; I called a few times because I was worried about the hotel and room. You were all so patient and very accurate in your description of your property -...
