I'll start with the good, we were seated immediately, the food was good, and the Christmas decorations were cute. Now for the bad. The music was so loud that I had to yell at the people I came with in order to have a conversation. The server had to ask us to repeat our order, because he couldn't hear us over the music, I do not like having to repeat myself. I wouldn't have had a problem with the volume if it didn't sound like one of the employees put their music on speakerphone, and used a megaphone to amplify it. My friend said it sounded like Weezer was covering every song we heard. Their speakers are all blown out and need to be replaced. I'm 100% sure I've suffered permanent hearing loss after eating here. Also, with all the over the top Christmas decorations, I kind of expected to hear Christmas music. On top of that, the service was atrocious. Our server only came to the table to take our drink order, then our food order after our drinks came. He never checked on us when the food came, and we didn't see him again until he tried to sneak the check onto the table when we were done. We had to yell at him to come back because we needed boxes and the check split. We would've bought a four pack of beers to-go if our server hadn't abandoned us, but hey, it's the bars loss, not mine. I would not recommend this place if you enjoy being able to hear or if you want...
Read moreI recently visited Loreley Beer Garden in New York and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Despite there being plenty of open seats inside, we were forced to sit outside, which immediately felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. The service only made things worse—our server was inattentive, slow to check in, and seemed uninterested in providing even the most basic level of hospitality. It felt like we were an afterthought rather than valued guests.
The food was another major letdown. Not only did it lack flavor and quality, but afterward, everyone in our group felt sick. That alone should be a serious red flag for any restaurant or bar. When you go to a place that brands itself as a beer garden, you at least expect hearty food that’s well-prepared and safe to eat, but Loreley failed miserably on that front.
Overall, the vibe wasn’t even that great. Between the poor service, questionable food, and uncomfortable seating arrangement, there was really nothing about the experience that made it worthwhile. New York has countless better options for drinks and atmosphere, so I can confidently say I won’t be returning to Loreley Beer...
Read moreSo I read somewhere that this was a kid-friendly place. This was my lesson in not believing everything people online say. We got there and when I saw the guy checking IDs at the door I said oh man, are we in the wrong place? Since we didn't have reservations, we got a table outside in the heated and enclosed little patio, which was definitely the way to go with kids. Inside was full of very young, very drunk people. We split fries and the adults had beers while the kids had sodas, and we watched a large number of very drunk people stumble in and out (including one super drunk dude leaving to smoke a cigarette and attempting to return through the window (!) around 3pm on a Saturday. More amusing than anything else as I lamented my listening to the Internet. Our server, as well as the others I saw when in line for the restroom, were KILLING it with smiles on their faces in an obviously stressful situation. What I saw of the inside looked very nice all Christmas'd up, but the two single bathrooms were already a problem at 3pm, can't imagine what it's like later. If you are in your early 20s, this is apparently the place to be, but don't be me and...
