Supreme gets a bad wrap.
Service is always a pivotal topic, for every store and place, everywhere. And that's because it is held down to singular employees and their every-day decisions that affect every experience. In my multiple trips to the store, I've encountered multiple different types of service qualities. You have to expect that on a busy drop day (Thursday), that the long line will have a better chance of producing problems than on a quiet Tuesday or Wednesday when all hyped items have officially sold out. Security guards, in my experience, have been incredibly well mannered and appropriate as long as the customer is behaving the way they are supposed to. I have had full length conversations with guards around the store, talking about the brand and just small talk in general.
Once inside, Supreme cannot be beat in accommodation. Due to internal changes, you are no longer rushed while in the store looking (but the selection is often so small that it should not take long). Cashiers are friendly if you are, as should be expected. For those who visit the store in search of box logos or items purely made to resell, they may be less gracious. No matter what, this once-little skate shop is still, in many ways, a small skate shop run by skaters off of a busy and frantic Lafayette Street.
Considering James Jebbia started the brand as a place for young skaters in the NYC area to find affordable clothes, it has defiantly changed it's path. However, a lot of things have, in fact, stayed the same. Security may have been added, but the "exclusive" feeling of the company has never faltered. And while Supreme has become widely open to streetwear culture, it stays true to it's skating past. I have personally bought 3 skateboards, 2 sets of Supreme x Independent Trucks, and a set of Supreme Spitfire wheels. The performance on each of these things is exceptional and also not unreasonably priced, with a skateboard coming in at 48 USD.
There is also a outcry for the expensive pricing. Expect to pay upwards of 44 USD for Tees, excluding the Hanes collaboration. The quality is excellent, and if actually worn will feel like an everyday shirt. I believe that whether or not the pricing is outrageous, it keeps the brand alive. Limited stock and high prices allow everyone involved with the brand to hold a feeling. A feeling that, oddly, is Supreme to...
Read moreI live in Canada so we have no supreme stores. When i visited New York city for 4 days during our Canadian march break i was very exited (understatement) to go to its flagship store on Lafayette street. When i went on my first day on a Monday it was about a fifteen minute wait to get in. Once i got in i realized i had wasted my time. The prices of everything are absurd ($158 USD for a cheap looking backpack that is worse than those crappy ones at Walmart, and $168 USD for a washed out looking hoodie that did not have the signature box logo on it. Everything looked ugly except for clothing that was from different companies (i.e. thrasher). I had previously been told that they release new clothing on Thursday's, so i asked the security guard while previously in line what time should i come next Thursday. He replied telling me i should come at 10:45 am, even thought the store opens at 11 am (i thought this was weird since supreme has such big and long lines, you thought that they be giving it away for free). I had done a little research the night before (Sunday) and found that the guards can be easily bribed (meaning that if you waited for 4+ hours in line, some rich kid could arrive 5 minutes before opening and be the first one in, going in before you; even though you waited in the cold). I had thought that this meant he wanted me to show up at 10:45 and slide the guard 2 $100 bills to skip the line (so I disregarded his advice; i went on Thursday 3 hours early). When i came i waited for an hour before a man who worked for supreme told me to that i had to make a reservation and wait in another line (i had came for nothing). This total ruined my vacation (i had gotten up at 3 am to prep for it). I own many luxury brands like louis vuitton, polo, gucci, lacoste. none of them are even bad enough comparable to the scam where a terrible skater border, turned into an even worse greedy businessman rips off brainless teens with their parents hard earned money (known as supreme), come close in terms of lack of quality, customer service, and legitimacy as an actual business (not a ponzi scheme). DON'T GO THERE UNLESS, YOU LOVE WHACK ASS , OVERPRICED CLOTHING THAT YOU’LL HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR A QUE, AND WAIT MANY HOURS TO GET IN WITH...
Read moreI will NEVER purchase From Supreme online again! It has been the worst online shopping experience ever. I purchased 3 items for my son for his birthday and waited a week for the order to be processed and shipped out. When I finally got confirmation for my item being shipped, I was then notified that UPS was unable to delivery my package. Upon contacting UPS to schedule another delivery, I was advised that Supreme placed a hold on my package and UPS was not authorized by the shipper (Supreme) to adjust delivery. After trying to contact Supreme multiple times, I was forced to send an email which took hours later for them to respond to, thereafter days. Yestwrday, they informed me that I could pick up my package at willcall, but would not allow upon my request for the package I paid for to be rerouted to a different address (my job or family’s home). They were adamant that I had to pick up my package which I paid $10 for delivery to my home for at the UPS facility. This morning, UPS comes to my home with my package but then advises they have a stop delivery from the shipper and unfortunately could not release my package to me because Supreme has full authority over MY package which has been fully paid for, money collected and banked on their end. Considering there is NO ONE you could call, I am forced to send another email requesting they release my package and demanding a full refund of my delivery charge because this is beyond ridiculous, especially after being told that if I do not pick up my package by the 20th, it will be returned to the sender. Explain to me theory behind your shipping process and control over delivery? Supreme does not make the delivery process customer friendly and has completely turned me off to a brand that I grew up on in the Lower East Side. Such a shame! I will NEVER shop this company again.. so thank you for your customer satisfaction and protecting MY PACKAGE AS IF...
