Staying at The Nolitan Hotel has been by far my best experience among hotels in the Lower East Side. I got the "Timeless Romance Rate" which comes with champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries, and white rose petals to spread on the bed. The staff made sure that upon arrival the strawberries were fresh, and that the petals were refrigerated so that they didn't wilt.
Another part of the great service was that I emailed The Nolitan the week of my arrival to make sure everything was prepared and I even asked them if they could help me surprise my boyfriend by allowing me to check in with my friend to decorate the room with Christmas decor, but pretending like I was checking in for the first time when I returned with my boyfriend. The staff was super helpful, friendly, and genuine. When I needed extra supplies like slippers they immediately brought it up. Whenever my boyfriend and I bumped into staff through the halls or on our way in or out of the hotel they greeted us with a smile and asked us if things were going well.
The Nolitan Hotel also has an awesome minibar, and a wide variety of amenities, which I didn't use, but was great to know that it was available to me. For example, you can ask for a lap-top, I-Pad, and even rent a cool vintage looking bike to get around the city!
I booked the suite so I had a bedroom and living room. The living room was very spacious and clean. The couches were clean and comfortable, and so was the pull out bed. There is an elegant modern chandelier hanging above a luxurious brown ottoman. The T.V. was bigger than I expected. The closet was very spacious which had a minibar/minifridge. I've been to hotels where you can't put stuff in the minifridge because of how it is set up, but I was able to use this one to put in additional drinks.I also got a beautiful view of the Empire State Building lit up in Christmas colors to top off a romantic evening!
The bathroom was amazing in that there was a tub and a shower stall next to each other. There is actually a curtain separating the bathroom and bedroom and I makes the bathroom seem much more spacious when you can bath while looking into the living room. I really liked that the toilet was in an room on its own (water closet). The bathroom mirror was wide and clean as well - I can't emphasize enough how clean this room and hotel was.
The bedroom was very spacious with a lot of drawer space to put your belongings in, which came in very handy since I had brought quite a few Christmas decorations. The bed was clean and beautifully prepared, and the flower petals added an elegant and romantic touch. There is also a T.V. in the bedroom. I just wished it could have been as big as the living room T.V. and not pop out as much as it is positioned between the bed and the wall. You don't get much of a view from the bedroom as there is a condominium being constructed next door, but that didn't bother me much since I had a nice view in the living room.
I also would like to mention that the lighting in this suite was very soothing. I like that there were enough light fixtures to make the place bright, but it still had a dark, cozy, and relaxing feel to it. We also got complimentary breakfast which ranged from freshly baked croissants, yogurt, fresh fruit, and juices. And from 5PM - 8PM we were also able to get complimentary wine, cheese, and grapes from the lobby. Also, I must say that I had very respectable, quiet, and clean neighbors (non-smoking) neighbors.
Overall, The Nolitan Hotel is definitely a contender among the hotels in the Lower East Side. Not only are the rooms luxurious and affordable, but the staff went above and beyond with their service, kindness, and sincerity - something that not all hotels can provide no matter how high-end it is. I can't thank them enough for helping my boyfriend and I have a memorable and very merry...
Read moreFirst of all, you'd be wise to ignore the Hotels.com page for the Nolitan Hotel. Look, they need to do what they need to do, which is to make the property look fabulous, exciting, up to date. To be fair, it is none of those things. However, it is charming, good-enough, with many things to make it a good pick. Let's get the "challenges" out of the way for those who want a legit 4+ -star hotel experience so they can keep scrolling. There are no ice machines, no bar or restaurant in the hotel proper. There is a restaurant "(Italian-Japanese fusion ?) but they seem to open and close when they want. We've been here almost a week and have not lucked out yet. The hallways are dark, the rooms are small, no coffee makers or luggage stands in the room, the towels are standard terry cloth, and the lobby has a single pot of coffee beginning at 6 am. It's fair to say that they have made an attempt to make the rooms seem vintage, but with a weird conglomeration of stuff in the rooms. The Hotels.com rating is 3.5 stars. That's fair, but the Nolitan Hotel is more than that when everything about this hotel is taken into consideration, which I'm guessing are the reasons you are looking at this Lower East Side, Nolita area and not Midtown, Tribeca or the Theater District. ||We were here for a week, over the Thanksgiving holiday. Here are the main three things that recommend this hotel: location, location, location. In many ways, these neighborhoods are the history of New York, and where early immigrants from 1850 settled, with Irish, Germans, Jews, and Italians families. Literally blocks away are Mulberry Street and Little Italy, and the largest Chinatown in the Western Hemisphere. From the hotel, stroll down any street and you'll find unique shops, restaurants, and bars.||The staff at the hotel are friendly and accommodating. Fresh ice was delivered to our room whenever we asked. I am an admitted history nerd and foody-ish, so we have been happy all week long. We also opted for a very cool option, which is a room with a small, narrow balcony, but fresh air and the hum (sometimes loud) of the city is immediately available. One more plus is the Bowery subway station maybe 300 feet from the hotel, and so Central Park, the Midtown West, and Battery Park are all a loud, sometimes apprehensive ride away.||You can't tell a book...
Read moreWas probably one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. Every day it was just another thing to add to the list of complaints. The first day we got there in the middle of the night and apparently your supposed to call and let them know you’re coming in late because if you don't they will cancel your room and still charge you for it. So, when we first got there, they couldn't even find my reservation. Then we finally make it to our room and finally can get some sleep is what we thought. In the morning, a cleaning lady came and knocked on our door even though we put a do not disturb sign on our door she kept knocking and wouldn't take no for an answer. Our dogs were with us also and where going crazy it was frustrating because I had to tell this woman no like 3 times. Then in my room I did not have an electronic safe like it mentioned on the website also my mini fridge did not work. They also did not have valet even though the website mentions that as an amenity, they also mentioned a rooftop that was available to guest. I tried to go up there in the morning around 11 and I also tried at night before going to bed and it was also around 11 and both times the elevator wouldn't let me go. Then when I called the front desk to double check if they even had a roof top, the man on the phone said the restaurant is closed lol didn’t give me any other type of information. The final straw of my entire stay was when they literally were rushing me to check out. The day before my actual check out date we were walking out of the hotel and the lady at the front desk stopped us from leaving to ask me if I was checking out. I said no obviously and continued with my day. Come the actual day of my check out, I am moving all our bags to the lobby while my boyfriend goes and gets the car which is parked 5 blocks away from the hotel. In the middle of me moving my stuff to the lobby the lady at the front desk asks me if I'm leaving, I need to check out. At this moment I snapped at her and told her no I am not ready to check out I will let you know when I am ready. Since they wanted me to leave so bad, they should have helped me move my bags to the lobby instead of just staring me down. SMH Point is if you want to keep your sanity and actually enjoy your vacation stay...
