Maggie’s Place has been open since 1974 in the heart of Manhattan and remains a must-see for New Yorkers and visitors alike. This Irish and family-owned classic restaurant is the perfect after-work stop whether you’re catching the train from Grand Central or leaving work nearby. Right near Rockefeller Center and the stores on 5th Ave, Maggie’s Place also makes for the ideal place to refresh with comforting yet fresh food during a day of NYC activities with the family, a loved one, or your best group of friends. Whether you’re sitting outside in the sun, in the “Nook” library room, or downstairs or upstairs bar area, the authenticity and history of Maggie’s is felt all around. We were thoroughly impressed by the food and especially the fresh and dangerously delicious cocktails! Makes sense why this place is flooded after the work day ends. Great service in a great atmosphere. We went when only the first floor was open; it was cozy and intimate. It can get a little loud at times if it's crowded. The waiter was attentive and created a welcoming dinner. The food and drinks were good. We had a couple of cocktails and local beers. I personally liked their Brooklyn pilsner. Heads up in the Dealer's Choice cocktail, it has a bold cilantro flavor but very refreshing. We had the Shepard's pie and calamari. The Shepard's pie was just hearty enough for a casual night out and went well with the beer. The calamari was nice and lightly battered. We also had the chocolate cake for dessert and it rounded off the night well. Price wise, this place is more $30-50 per person without drinks. Be prepared for some NYC priced cocktails if you're planning to drink though. Overall, great place and it closed my vacation on a high note. Will definitely come back again if I'm in the area.

We visited at 2PM on a Sunday for a late lunch, only one person working but they gave great service given that they had to bounce all around the restaurant and bar. The crab cakes were rich and luscious with plenty of blue crab, though they didn’t have much crunch on the fry. The fish and chips had an excellent crunch to them, though the fries were a bit soft for my liking. The spicy crispy chicken sandwich wasn’t particularly spicy or crispy, but the chicken was moist and cooked well. We were able to get a side of buffalo sauce and suddenly it was a nicely spicy sandwich. Also had excellent air conditioning and a perfect spot for us to cool off on a hot August Sunday afternoon. Would come back!

I wanted to love this place. The photos and reviews had all been so positive, and I had high hopes going in. I went with a friend for dinner on a Friday evening after work, looking forward to a great meal and atmosphere. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype.

We decided to split two items: the Crab Cake Burger and the Maggie Burger. The Crab Cake Burger was the clear winner. The crab cake itself was flavorful and cooked well, and it was much better than I expected. However, the Maggie Burger fell flat for me. The flavors just didn’t come together in a way that felt exciting, and unfortunately, the seasoning was pretty bland. The fries, which are usually a simple but important part of any burger experience, were also underwhelming—again, lacking in seasoning and flavor.

The bar area was beautiful and had a great vibe, which is definitely a plus. The atmosphere was welcoming, and you could tell a lot of effort had gone into making it a pleasant space to hang out. However, when it comes to dining, the food is the most important thing, and unfortunately, that’s where the experience didn’t quite hit the mark for us.

While the Crab Cake Burger was good enough to salvage part of the meal, I’m not sure I’d return. There are plenty of other spots where I can find great, well-seasoned burgers and fries. It's always disappointing when a place that looks great and has so much potential doesn’t quite deliver on the food side. I’d be open to revisiting, but next time, I think I’ll choose something...

This spot is a true gem - from the cozy atmosphere and decorations at Christmas time to the delicious food and drinks. But what made our visit to Maggie's Place on this day so memorable was the incredibly kind and thoughtful bartender, Demar. We had just come from Sloan Kettering where my boyfriend received some great news after being diagnosed a year ago with prostate cancer. When we walked in, our friend was at the bar and joyfully announced, "This is my friend and he is cancer free today!" We had never been in this bar before or knew anyone there, but Demar walked right over and with a big smile said 'Congrats!' and shook his hand. He then said he was going to play a song for us and proceeded to go to the music dock to look for the song. In a few minutes, "I Can See Clearly Now" by Jimmy Cliff was playing and it immediately made me tear up. It was such a touching moment that made our celebratory lunch so special and peaceful. I am still blown away by Demar's sentiment and will never forget him! We could have walked into any other bar that day, but we went to Maggie's Place and left with a full heart! xoxo Thank you, Demar. We hope to be back another...

Me and some friends and our kids ate at Maggie's Place on December 28th for lunch. At first glance the place is very inviting, with plenty of decorations and beautiful wooden detailing. However, the overpriced food left a lot to be desired. The ladies had salads and me and my bud had some burgers. The burgers were dry and the chicken and salmon in the salads tasted old. To top things off the fries were flavorless and tasted like frozen ones. Also, the bathrooms were small and cramped. Do yourself a favor and get some burgers from Smashburger or from the pub across the street. You'll save some cash and get yourself something worth your money. Kid's hotdogs or sliders for $10? Plenty of street vendors outside will sell a way tastier version of the same for a fraction of the price. A real shame such a beautiful location has such crummy food. Can't speak for the alcohol though. Maybe that can explain some if the...
