Insights for H&M at 589 5th Ave I recently visited the H&M store located at 589 5th Avenue in Manhattan, New York, and I must say the experience was quite enjoyable. This flagship store is a big, six-story spot on 5th Avenue at 48th Street, popular with tourists and locals. Tons of tourists snapping pics outside. Fancy jewelry available, my daughter buy a lot. Expensive item available, Huge range of clothes (men’s, women’s, kids’, maternity, maybe home goods), decent prices for NYC, clean and modern vibe, great Midtown location. It’s a tourist magnet, so it’s busy, especially on weekends. This flagship location stands out for its spacious layout and well-organized floors, which made it easy to browse through different sections without feeling overwhelmed. I was especially impressed by the elegant interior — much more upscale than a typical H&M — with wide aisles, stylish decor, and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. During my visit, I purchased some fancy jewelry for my daughter, and I was genuinely pleased with both the variety and quality. The accessories section was well-stocked, offering trendy and affordable pieces that looked elegant and stylish. It’s nice to see fashion-forward items that don’t compromise on value. The staff was courteous and helpful, although checkout lines could have been a bit faster. That said, the service overall was decent, and I appreciated that team members were available on each floor for assistance when needed. If you're in Midtown and looking for an H&M store that combines convenience, variety, and a better-than-usual shopping experience, this location is definitely worth a visit. It’s perfect for everything from casual wear to stylish accessories — highly...
Read moreHORRIBLE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. I’m an online shopper but, wanted to see a few items up close before I made a purchase. Upon entering, I’ve noticed that I was the only Black woman besides the security guard and a female employee in the fitting room. The guard left his post and moved to an area where he could see me looking at a blazer… I made eye contact with her and thought nothing of it. I made my way to the checkout line (the line wasn’t that long) and she opens a register…
Throughout my time there, I would hear the alarm ring periodically but, the guard would let the patrons leave the store. I purchased three items and proceeded to leave behind a group of three people. That’s when the alarm went off and I was told to open my bag.
The guard aggressively approaches me and says, “Open your bag”. I handed the guard my bag in embarrassment as people stopped to see the outcome. I asked why did he stop me. He said because there’s a black alarm on your clothes. I told him, “If that’s true, please swing my bag and see if it rings again”. He did it three times and there wasn’t any alarm sounding off.
I told him, “I hope you stopped me because of a black alarm and not because I’m Black.”
I left the store and returned a minute later to obtain a refund. Another Black man approached me and asked if I was making a return. At this point…AM I THE MAIN ATTRACTION? 🤦🏾♀️ I nodded and proceed to the cashier. I expressed my frustration to him and he empathized with me. Thank you to that employee. I will not patronize a business that racially profiles a woman who isn’t the same color as their usual customers.
AGAIN….HORRIBLE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE AT...
Read moreStopped by this location to browse and possibly pick out some summer items. Grabbed some Men's shorts from a table that was signed "Men's Cotton Shorts $17.99." Nowhere on the sign did it state "select styles". I double checked. When I was finished picking out my items I tried to check out at the register in the Men's section. I asked one of the 6 employees I saw working in the area if I could check out there. He said "Hmmmm, no you'll have to go upstairs to the street level cashier." His tone and facial expression clearly indicated that he didn't want to stop what he was doing to check me out. I took my items to street level check out and the shorts came up for $24.99. No big deal, but when I suggested to the cashier that someone should check/ fix the sign I was greeted with an argumentative attitude from the cashier and was blatantly refused the price on the sign. I realize there are far worse things in the world to complain about, but this isn't the first time I've had an issue like this. This kind of thing has happened to me at several locations. I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt. Does this company train their employees in Good Customer Service? The employees always seem overly carefree and laid back until you need their assistance or take issue with something. I work in retail and the company I work for wouldn't put up with...
