Inconsistent and Disappointing Food at "Marks Off Madison"
During my recent visit to "Marks Off Madison," I was eager to try their highly praised dishes. Unfortunately, my experience left me feeling deceived and unsatisfied. The food fell short of the expectations set by social media, and I encountered several disappointments along the way.
One dish that stood out for all the wrong reasons was the lobster roll. A TikTok video had showcased a generous portion of succulent lobster meat, enticing me to order it. However, when the lobster roll arrived at my table, I couldn't help but notice the stark contrast. It was disheartening to see that the actual amount of lobster meat was only half of what was advertised on TikTok. This blatant discrepancy felt like false advertising and left me feeling cheated.
To make matters worse, the accompanying chips served with the lobster roll were far from fresh. Instead of the anticipated crispness, they were stale and lacked any enjoyable texture. It was clear that they had been sitting around for a while, which further added to my disappointment.
Moving on to the crab royale sandwich, it fared slightly better in comparison, but it still failed to impress. While the flavors were acceptable, they fell short of being exceptional. The crab filling lacked the freshness and quality that one would expect from a dish of this nature. Moreover, the sandwich was deemed pricey, which made it difficult to overlook its average taste and mediocre presentation.
The inconsistent and disappointing food experience overshadowed any potential positives during my visit to "Marks Off Madison." The disparity between the advertised portion size and the actual lobster meat in the lobster roll was a major letdown. Additionally, the stale chips detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Although the crab royale sandwich was passable, it failed to deliver the wow factor one would hope for, especially given its high price point.
It's disheartening when a restaurant fails to live up to the hype, particularly when social media plays a significant role in shaping expectations. "Marks Off Madison" left me feeling unsatisfied and frustrated with the inconsistency and lackluster execution of their food offerings. If you're seeking a memorable dining experience, I would advise looking elsewhere, as this establishment falls short in delivering on...
Read moreI have not actually even tried the food yet, but I placed a to go order hours ago, showed up on the specified time, 515, and here I sit, ignored. So it's story time. I'm still waiting. I thought they should at least offer me a glass of water, but no. They offered the drinks menu filled with substandard wines by the glass after I asked what was up. They seemed incensed that I actually asked, hey could I order something to drink since this wait is so long? I certainly wasn't going to order a whole bottle of decent wine when I wasn't sure how much longer I had to wait, although in the end I probably could have quaffed an entire bottle by the time I got my food. I watched a couple of customers walk in, state that they had reservations and get seated. They were dressed no differently than I was. They were, however, under the impression that reservations were paramount if they wanted to eat there. After sitting there for so long, I can safely state that the place was empty on opening, and continued to be empty. As I sat, ignored, staff wandered about, watched the soccer game on tv, and chatted amongst themselves. When my food finally arrived, the person who brought it was so incredibly dismissive of me that I had to laugh. He literally held the bag out to me, by the handles and turned away, disgusted by my very presence. He stood there, facing away from me, arm held back behind him, dangling the to go bag, until I took the bag out of his hand. 😆😆😆 As I noted earlier, I was dressed no differently than the other customers there, granted, only a whopping TWO tables as examples, but still, I was not out of line in the couture department. Nothing I said could have had anything thing to do with his attitude, as I literally spoke two sentences the entire time I was there. " Hi, I ordered online," and "Do you think I could order something to drink while I'm waiting?" It was probably the rudest I've ever been treated in a restaurant, any restaurant, including McDonald's. I had already paid for my $100+ dinners and left a 20% tip. That was a mistake, for sure. The food was adequate. The scallops were better than the lasagne. My aunt and I did enjoy the meal and of course I didn't tell her about any of the trials and tribulations of getting that meal for her while she's on...

Assorted Bread Old Fashioned Wedge Salad Lasagne Della Nonna “Devour” Chicken Parmesan Old Fashioned Lemon Ice Box Cake Local Peach Upside Down Cake
Appearance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Literally located off Madison Ave (hence the catchy name) is a restaurant specializing in Italian dishes. It’s definitely a place to treat M.O.M. (No pun intended)
The assorted table bread is made in house consisting of focaccia, sour dough and semolina.
Another nutritious starter is the wedge salad. The bleu cheese crumble and bacon bits are definitely the best part.
Mark’s lasagna is definitely one of his signature entrees. In between the multiple flat sheets of pasta are veal, beef, and pork Bolognese. The creamy sauce is the backbone to this dish!
Another classic Italian dish that always catches my eye is the chicken Parmesan, which I certainly “devoured.” I must acknowledge the attractive artistic appearance of the “M” insignia written in pesto.
Regardless of how full you feel, there’s always room for sweets. The lemon cake was definitely my favorite. It had a tart, lemony flavor with a heaping side of blueberry sauce. The upside peach pie was literally upside down with the crust on the bottom and fruit on top. Regardless of whether it’s right side up or upside down, the taste was still the same and I cleared this dessert!
Aside from these heavenly dishes, the service was phenomenal. From my friendly welcome into the restaurant by Host Garret and being promptly served by Marcos, Muquit and Freddy, I’ll definitely be back to try their other tasty dishes!
