Disappointment experience! I made a reservation for December 24 with the idea of taking my partner to a Restaurant with Michelin star to celebrate Christmas on our first trip to New York (we are from Paris) and the level was very far from what we expected. The reservation was at 20:30 (time we arrived) but when entering the restaurant a waiter tells us that our table was not ready yet and if we could wait at the bar since our table was busy. Curious situation, knowing that we had booked towards weeks and that night there was a Christmas menu. Also during time of waiting nobody proposed nor an appetizer or anything. It was as if no one will notice our presence. Then we went to the table and a really friendly waiter takes us the order. The entrees were good not to be because of the huge hair in my partner's scallops. The waiter quickly apologizes and they change the plate. Then we went to the main ones. A waitress is approaching with the desserts and we tell him that we have not eaten the main ones so this error in the service cost us another 30 minutes of waiting to have our dishes. And then the dessert, without more ...
The service was messy The food is too abundant that we could not finish our dishes (they were not refined and nothing near the level of this type of restaurants)
The most remarkable detail of this "experience" was that as much I as my partner spent the night and the day after decomposed of the stomach !!!
We can only highlight the good will and attention of the waiter who has not charged us wine and coffee. A detail to remember All this for a note of $ 220.
I do not recommend this place. Is not at the level which is qualified by Michelin There was no kind of Christmas atmosphere despite the fact that the menu was intended to be like its price. Lack of precision and very banalth flavors. This criticism has no courage to attack but to express my experience as a client of this beautiful restaurant that differs between photos...
Read morei'll start this review positively: the food was very good. the quality of the meal was very good, & it tasted delicious. if this was just about food, i would dine there again. however, i'm writing to discuss the service.
i had reserved a table at meadowsweet to celebrate getting engaged. in prep for this, i had included a note about the engagement in my reservation & had sent an email prior to our visit that mentioned our engagement as well. when we arrived, we were shown promptly to our table, which despite the restaurant not being very busy, was a small table directly between the kitchen & another couple: super cramped, loud, impersonal. service quickly became an issue. our server didn't even stay long enough at our table to introduce himself. when plates arrived, they were chipped every time. our server couldn't give any real responses when asked for recommendations, & instead seemed like an uncomfortable deer caught in headlights. the meal felt rushed, as if they were trying to get us out as quickly as possible. for a celebratory dinner, we weren't even given real time to celebrate- we were in & out in 30 minutes. most importantly, there wasn’t one mention of our engagement by any waitstaff. the only acknowledgement tableside was when the kitchen sent us "something special & freshly made" with our check: two macaroons, quarter sized, cold, sticky, & burnt. the final insult was a manager, telling us as we were leaving the restaurant: "thanks for dining! & congrats on your.... engagement, right?" it felt like a slap in the face. clearly SOMEONE had known, but didn't even bother to say anything to us until we were one foot out the door, in a sheepish afterthought. no one took notice of us or cared about us/ our moment, in the way that real customer service professionals should. we felt uncomfortable, rushed, & underserved the entire meal, like an afterthought. this experience has put a cloud over the entire memory of our engagement. so...
Read moreAt the recommendation of a friendly colleague, my beloved son scheduled a reservation for dinner in honorable celebration of my birthday.
We were warmly greeted by the initial team and gently escorted to our table by Arlo. A lovely person of good charm, elegance, style and a winning persona and temperament and the topping was the offer to not only take secure our outer clothing, but offered to rest my beautiful bouquet of flowers from my son.
Our Server was Jon. An attentive, and nonweldable point-person whose energy was to deliver stellar dining service, in my opinion, comparable to that of fine dining.
Like many, I have experienced numerous opportunities to dine at great restaurants, as well as other restaurants that could use a refresher course in every aspect of the restaurant industry. And through it all, one constant never escapes my perusal and desire to share the joys of wonderful dining experiences - as experienced at Meadowsweet.
From the decadent decor. To the delectable fare, spirit recommendations, sparkling stemware, warm smiles from the entire team, to the old-skool meet and greet from Alan, the Manager, whose astute leadership, by way of his attention to detail is a trademark of education that imparts positively on the up and coming fledging's at the forefront with readiness to serve, and offer experiences of dining that set the Meadowsweet as a place of magic, grace and memorable flashbacks to share and experience.
Of equal mention, Jon surprised me with a complimentary macaroon sweets, complimented with a pink candle...
To all team mates at the Meadowsweet, I offer a resounding thank you and wishes for continued blessings of love, light, peace, balance and the time withing which to enjoy...
Looking forward to returning at the opening of Spring for Brunch.
Merci...
