I live around the block and have been in this neighborhood for 20+ years and have seen the transition and was so excited for this deli to open. The layout and presentation are nice enough, staff is NYC-friendly enough, but don't be fooled, it's meh at best.
I did the NYC standard test of bacon, egg & cheese on a roll and coffee. The bacon was rubbery, chewy, and stringy. The cheese was cheap, the egg didn't fill the whole sandwich. Coffee was OK, but you can't mess that up. I peeled off the cheese, tossed the bacon, had a half-egg sandwich, and vowed never to go back.
A few weeks later, I said let me try again. I asked for crispy bacon this time, thinking it would help. Nope. Even worse. Now it's just hard, rubbery, chewy, and stringy bacon. Same cheap cheese and not enough egg to cover the sandwich. Again, I peeled off the cheese, ditched the bacon, got rid of the top bun, and folded a half-egg sandwich. The second time I got a cappuccino, the barista seemed like she could handle it. Nope. Warm milk coffee for a baby at 8am on a Monday.
Never going back here. Waste of money and tips to be charged midtown prices for what I got. Almost embarrassed for them as a NYer. I pay the same price in midtown and my sandwich and coffee is a10/10. Save yourself and find a...
Read moreI’ve stopped by this deli a few times because it’s conveniently located, and while the food is decent enough for a quick bite, the experience tends to be hit or miss—mostly due to the service.
The cashier is pleasant. Friendly, efficient, and always greets you with a smile, which is a nice way to start your day. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the guy who handles breakfast.
Every time I’ve ordered in the morning, he acts like I’ve just ruined his day. There’s always a scowl on his face, like making breakfast sandwiches is some huge inconvenience. He never says hello, rarely makes eye contact, and generally gives off a “don’t bother me” vibe. It honestly feels like I’m interrupting his break, even though he’s clearly on the clock. It’s uncomfortable, and it makes what should be a simple and pleasant experience somewhat stressful.
If the management could work on improving the attitude behind the counter, this place could be a lot better. Until then, I’ll probably only stop by if I’m in a rush and have no...
Read moreI went to the market and purchased a sandwich and other things. I was impressed and was happy to know that they delivered and were opened 24/7. Today I called to place an order for the delivery and I was met with the rudest, nastiest person. I place the order I tell her I want to pay with my card she says cash only. I say your menu states you take all cards. She says the card machine does not work.... I say ok then cancel the order and hang up. She calls me back to tell me with an attitude at that, that I hung up on her while she was still speaking. When I said cancel the order there was silence on her end so I hung up. When I asked about the card payment she should have taken the card info over the phone from the beginning! She hung up on me, I call back to ask for her manager to my surprise she is the manager. I proceeded to tell her that her customer service is horrible and she should work on that. Again she hangs up. Great way to welcome a new customers to your...
