Momo Sushi & Ramen, Flatbush Ave

Let’s be clear, this is not the place you take your Japanese friend to impress them with authenticity. This is the place you go when you want sushi that’s fast, affordable, and suspiciously delicious, made by chefs who clearly know their way around a rice roll and aren’t afraid to bend a few cultural rules. And between us, I’ve long suspected that Chinese chefs make the best budget sushi in Brooklyn. Momo just confirms it.

The ramen? Deeply satisfying. Rich broth, springy noodles, and toppings that don’t feel like an afterthought. It’s the kind of bowl that makes you forget you’re sitting under fluorescent lighting next to a laminated menu. You slurp, you sweat a little, you feel alive.

Now, a caveat for the regulars. The owners and entire staff just changed. The vibe is still warm, the menu looks familiar, but until I’ve revisited a few of my go-to dishes, the ones that used to hit like a hug from a sodium-savvy aunt, the jury’s still out. That said, the new team has already scored points by bringing back the long-lost sit-down service. No more balancing miso soup on your lap while dodging delivery bags. That’s a win.

And speaking of go-to dishes, the yellow katsu ramen was to die for. Ever-crispy chicken perched on top like it knew it was the main event. Comforting, golden, and just indulgent enough to make you cancel your afternoon plans. I’ll have to check if it’s still banging under the new regime. Before the change, my mom swore this was the best sushi she’d ever had, and my wife declared the yellow curry ramen her personal gold standard. So yes, expectations are high.

Service is brisk but kind, and the prices are the kind that make you double-check the math. You leave full, happy, and vaguely guilty for enjoying it so much. Momo isn’t trying to be Tokyo, it’s trying to be Flatbush, and it’s doing a...

This place is the worst! Ordered on grubhub and the food was marked delivered but it wasn’t. I searched my building for it but it wasn’t there so grubhub refunded my ordered and canceled the delivery. The driver 20 mins later called me and I tried to let him know the order was canceled and refunded and he hung up on me. Then the restaurant called me 6 times! The girl I spoke to was yelling and me on the phone and was so disrespectful! I tried to tell her I had been refunded already cuz the food was late, and wrongly marked as delivered but she kept yelling over me. She then kept harassing me and calling back. Yikes! What is wrong with you guys treating customers like that? Will never order from this place again. I used to order from here even here even though the hood was mediocre but never again. You can’t call customers screaming at them for your mistakes and being late. Not my fault...

FANTASTIC FOOD AND TERRIBLE SERVICE. I have been here a few times because it’s the best and only eating space sushi place near me. The food is consistently good but the service keeps getting worse and worse. This last time they brought the food in a bag as if literally pushing me out. When I asked for a glass of water they told me this is a take out place so we don’t have cups. Asked for tea and the same answer was given. It’s so sad that they are not more welcoming to eat in customers, because despite the bike that is always parked inside the place is super cute and the food is really good. If they were a little more welcoming and warm, I would definitely consider having lunch here more often as the price for their food taste and quality is...

used to come here a lot and really enjoyed it. now, i’m dining in, had to pay before sitting, for-here food came in takeout containers, and after asking for a glass of water they said they only sell bottles of water! are you serious‽ this is the most i hospitable service i think i have ever received. might as well tell me i have to pay for each napkin and chopstick too, yah? WHO DOES THIS‽ THIS IS SO INCREDIBLY RUDE. now im just writing a few more sentences so i can get the google review bonus or having a long review. i’m still just so baffled at the fact that they wouldn’t give me a glass of water. AAHHHH!!
