A friend recommended King of Tandoor, and I was a tad doubtful it would hit my spice preference. It’s a cozy, ‘typical’ NYC Indian spot, and while I was right about the spice level for the chicken vindaloo, my friend was right to recommend this place. I don’t read menus at Indian spots. I just order Chicken Vindaloo spicy and if I’m hungry, I get samosas and garlic naan. I got it all today. And when I asked the waiter about the spice level, he told me it wouldn’t be spicy enough. I asked if he could give me something to make it spicier like green chilies and he just smiled and said, “I got you”. Wow did he. He brought out a jar of his personal favorite spicy sauce (Mr. Naga - I’m buying this as soon as I can!) and some green chilies. The spice level was absolutely perfect (which would probably be way more heat than most people enjoy). The waiter was so kind and helpful. He turned my experience into a great moment. Would highly recommend. And talk to your waiter! Ask questions. You’ll be happy you did.

This is clearly a more takeout focused restaurant (at least to me), so the interior dine in area was relatively small and the lighting was a little bit jarring. As for the food, it was overall pretty good. My only complaints would be that the samosas were a little dry and the mixed meat biryani lacked a bit of seasoning, but it's something the complimentary condiments could easily fix. The lamb tikka masala was delicious and perfectly spiced, and the basmati had a hint of coconut and paired well with the tikka masala. The garlic naan was very well made and was flavorful as well. Service was good, the man working there was friendly. Overall, a good experience with good food.

Delicious! We got the curry special dinner for 1. It was a fun way to try multiple menu items! We also split the one between two people and it was enough for us and extremely affordable. The Mulligatawny soup was the best soup I’ve had in a long time—a must get! Naan was soft, hot, and delicious. The do-piaz curry was also very good. Comfortable indoor seating. Update: Forgot my card here and they held onto it safely and gave me free soup! 10/10 would recommend!

Poor customer service. I ordered dinner quite close to the posted quit time believing it to be delivered as I and my family has done in the past. While waiting for my meal I received a phone call inquiring if I was coming to pick up my meal, I explained that I was expecting it delivered. The gentle became very annoyed telling all his delivery man have Jeff for the evening. I was there in less than 10 minutes and found the gates pulled down lights out. While contemplating my situation the gate opened up and the owner and another staff came out. I was relieved thinking he had heard the door bell and had my meal which by the way was paid for. He became upset and berated telling how long he’s been in business in the area. He aggressively told me he canceled the order which means he never fix it. When I reminded him I had paid on line for it he went back in and returned with a bag. Without any apology he told me he couldn’t fix one of the 2 orders instead he chose something for me without asking me or simply refund the cost if that food. Because I was very Hungary I didn’t protest but upon getting home I discover in addition he had also served me white rice instead of the brown rice I paid additional $2 for. The money is not a big deal but the nonchalant manner and total lack of courtesy and out right disrespect and indifference The measure of great customer service is not when are going normal but the rare occasion when things aren’t going well. Whether the personnel did the best best they could under the circumstances. In this particular case he got *....

My friend raved about this spot so I decided to order the chicken tikka masala, a rich creamy red decadent Indian signature I LOVE but to really test their culinary depth I ordered theeeee(drum roll please) LACHA PARATHA! I said over the phone, " you know the 1000 layer flatbread cause I hate naan bread". The man taking my order says, "I don't know about a 1000 layers but there'll be few". I felt a little risky and called back to throw in a "saag"to my order, a delectable spinach purée punctuated with cumin seeds, spices stewed right down to rich thick green goodness. Alas! My door bell rang after 45 mins. I handed $+tip , snatched the bag & dashed to my dining table. WWWWWELL !!! Dare I say, I opened the paratha first and to my great dismay , a flat, very flat chewy looking fail stared back at me. Still, I tore it and took a bite. I like a stiff chew which is why I swallowed it. The chicken tikka masala was a good color, they got away with a very fetching flavor profile which makes up for the lack of distinct spiced creaminess along with the white meat chicken cubes escaped with passing grade tenderness which I appreciated. The saag? Nothing near a Saag whatsoever! But, I love spinach and so I still ate a few spoons of the sautéed healthiness set before me. The pickles & pompodums were pleasant. All in all if you are craving Indian it's nice & pleasant enough to lick your cravings but not deep enough to reach your soul. But that's only my meek opinion of course!...

I order from this place a fair amount because it’s close by and it’s the only Indian place in the area. Certain things will hit the spot if you are really craving Indian, and I recommend sticking to those things. Naan, Chana saag, samosas, papadam, chicken curry—the basics—are all okay. Like others have said, their biryani is bad. Flavorless, oily, and if you get the salmon, it honestly didn’t taste or look like salmon at all to me.

The other thing about ordering from here is the wait time, I’m assuming it’s because it’s the only Indian place in the area, not because the food is extraordinary. I live four blocks away and it will still take an hour for the food to be ready for pickup or delivery.

If you order delivery, don’t get your hopes up. They “forget” something almost every time I order, from something as small as the chutneys or drink, to an entire appetizer.

On top of that, the prices are high for the quality, compared to other places like Joy Indian in prospect heights.

Unfortunately I think because they’re the only ones in the area and they have high delivery orders, they just sacrifice on quality and service,...
