Disappointing Experience at Mumbai place
I recently visited [mumbai place] with high hopes, eager to explore their vegetarian menu. Unfortunately, my experience was a significant letdown, and I feel compelled to share detailed feedback.
Ambiance & Service: To start, the ambiance was pleasant enough. The decor was clean, and the staff were friendly, which made the overall atmosphere welcoming. However, the service was a bit slow, though it wasn’t entirely a deterrent—it was the food that truly ruined the experience.
The Food: The main issue was, sadly, the food. As a vegetarian, I often look forward to discovering new, flavorful dishes, but the meals at restaurantwere bland, unappetizing, and, in some cases, poorly prepared.
Appetizer: We started with the Gobi Manchurian and paneer tikka], which sounded promising on the menu. However, it was a huge disappointment. The texture was off, with some pieces being too soggy while others were overly dry. The seasoning was nearly nonexistent, and the dish felt like it had been prepared without much care or thought.
Main Course: For the main course, I tried the [paneer karai], which was supposed to feature a mix of fresh vegetables and grains. What arrived at the table was a bland, overcooked mess. The vegetables were mushy, lacking any distinct flavor. The grains were also soggy, and the entire dish tasted as though it had been sitting around for too long before being served. The seasoning was almost nonexistent, and even the garnish looked wilted and unappealing.
Side Dish: I also ordered a side of paneer tikkawhich I was hoping would be a redeeming factor. Unfortunately, it was even worse. The [describe texture or preparation issue], and the flavor was completely flat. I could hardly finish it.
The Overall Experience: What struck me most was the lack of flavor and care in the food preparation. Vegetarian dishes can be so vibrant and satisfying when done right, but everything I tried at Mumbai place felt like an afterthought. The quality of the ingredients was subpar, and there was no attention to the balance of flavors or textures. It was clear that little effort was put into making the dishes enjoyable.
Given that the restaurant specializes in vegetarian cuisine, I expected a much higher standard of quality and creativity. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and unsatisfied, especially since I had been looking forward to a flavorful, plant-based meal.
Final Thoughts: Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to [Restaurant Mumbai place anytime soon. While I understand that not every meal can be perfect, the food I experienced here was far from enjoyable. I hope the kitchen takes this feedback seriously and looks into improving the quality and flavor of their dishes. There is definitely room for growth, but for now, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a satisfying vegetarian meal.

Read moreI took my three daughters to dinner here tonight. We live in Park slope and have tried all the Indian restaurants within a half mile radius. This restaurant hands-down was the most delicious. The appetizers included vegetable Samosa and marinated paneer. The samosas were light and flaky, the paneer with sweet and savory. For mains, we had lamb vindaloo, eggplant bartha, saag paneer, chicken tandoori and chicken tiki Marsala. My kids have particular tastes. Normally we have lots of leftovers but not this night.
The tandoori chicken was moist and tasty, perfectly cooked with caramelized onions. My oldest daughter does not normally go near the lamb Vindaloo but tonight proceeded to plow through the home made sauce, pleasantly spiced with fresh ginger and whole Cardamon seeds. The sauce was light and pleasant in distinction to most Vindaloos at lesser restaurants. The chicken tikka Marsala was ok in my book, but my youngest with relatively narrow pallet finished off all of the chicken. I was also enamored with the eggplant, which was sweet, mild and tasty with subtle curry spices. The saag was very good. My middle daughter loved it, finishing all the paneer and spinach atop light crisp garlic naan. This detailed description is to illustrate the quality of the cuisine. Each dish not only had its own flavor but depth and consistency so that we ate nearly everything and did not feel overwhelmed at the end.
In the sum a really good no nonsense local Indian Restaurant. I have eaten better on rare occasion but not locally. ...

We had the Chicken Vindaloo, Lamb Curry, Sag Paneer, and Darka Tal, which was my favorite. The staff is wonderfully patient, attentive, and great with kids. They even gave my son off menu prepared vegetables, which he enjoyed very much.
Overall, the place is typical of indian restaurants, and the pricing seems very fair and reasonable, too. At first I wasn't sure if the portions were going to satisfy my hunger, but I was wronog and I barely finished all the food. I believe in supporting local, but more importantly, I believe in supporting those who add value to the community. This restaurant is perfect for families, couples on dates, and general mid-size groups for affordable and well proportioned meals.
I'm very thankful for restaurant like Mumbai Palace because it's not an easy industry to survive in, so if there's anything that I can do to help them thrive I hope this review will encourage others...
