The location is easy to get to and situated in the heart of a cornucopia of delicious restaurants, from which to choose. Much to my disappoint, Zaytoons fare was far from fabulous.
Upon our arrival, we were the only patrons and at first, we thought-cool! However, we waited for what seemed like an eternity to be waited on. And while the hostess was okay - we found ourselves having to probe her to get a marginal sense of the selections.
Once we topped that mission, we waited for ever for our food that consisted of a sandwich, and two appetizers. The sandwich and appetizers were nothing to write home about, and as such, we did not want to experience such a let down? But, such as it was, that is the story.
The nan/bread was entirely over cooked and bland and it just got worse from there. Needless to say that there were roughly five employees on deck. Not including the two chefs, seemingly in the midst of conversing, and that was much to our growing disappointment, hunger and delayed order.
Perhaps for the sake of error, and/or thr possible position of the moon, a second chance might help? We will...
Read moreWe had a great time here!
I ordered the Rosewater Lemonade (tasted like regular lemonade to me, nothin special) and my friend got the Turkish coffee which took awhile, as it normally does, and tasted great.
We are both vegan and the waitress seemed to have a good sense of what was vegan on the menu. She was unsure of the hummus but asked the kitchen to be certain.
I ordered a mixture of sides that were all lovely. The hummus stuck out to me as being fantastic, along with the grape leaves. I don’t remember the names of what else I got but they were tasty!
My friend ordered the vegetable sandwich which she liked very much.
We ate in the garden which I highly recommend. It’s cute and has good vibes.
The only negative is that once we were done eating, it took the waitress a very long time to get our check. Not sure if this is a cultural thing, being that in the Middle East and Europe people tend to stay and talk after eating, but we were anxious to leave and stayed 20 minutes longer than we wanted to. We ended up asking one of the cooks to grab our server and she got...
Read moreDear Chef: I've been a huge fan of Zaytoons for many, many years. Your lentil soup and chicken pizza has been a great stable take-out dinner that I frequently pick up on my way home from work. So, on a particular rainy night last week, I couldn't WAIT to get home and chow down. WHAT HAPPENED? Did you have a bad day? or did you change the recipe for the chicken pizza? It was so bad I spit it out. The bread was burnt, the chicken was tough and flavored with negligence. Then, because I was so hungry and have loyal faith in the quality Zaytoons food, I heated it up and tried again. I should say, heated up the only three pieces that had any food on it, the other half was naked bread, and not because the food had slipped off in transport; nothing had been there in the first place. Heat only made dry chicken drier and the poor choice of herbal rub even more potent. If you had one bad day, all is forgiven. But if you've lost all love for your community of chicken pizza fans, please just take it off the menu and don't...
