I come to No. 7 about every six months, ‘cause I live two streets down and want it to succeed. The food is fantastic. Really great. And I would be in here every week, except that I tend to come in during happy hour, and unfortunately, the bartender is just not great. His drinks are delicious, but he moves at one speed and the smallest crowd gets away from him. Tonight I ordered a simple (and expensive) bourbon and soda, and after ordering it took 10 minutes to get the drink. When I needed a refill during and then after my food came, I patiently waited for his attention, which after 20 minutes, I gave up on. I was sitting right in front of the beer pulls, where he came often, and he just never looked down. The folks to my left and to my right also had empty glasses, as did most the bar. I would love to come here more, but I just can’t justify look-cute service for the price point. On a good note, a second bartender showed up as I was finishing, and it seemed he was really on his game. So maybe a later crowd will have better luck. I’ll try again...

This place goes up and down. I've had some good meals here and some terrible ones, too. On the balance, I'd say it's middling and not really worth the cost.

I used to stop in just for cocktails and a snack. The fries are consistently good, and they usually have a list of specialty cocktails which are interesting at least. Recently I have gotten into more classic cocktails, so I ordered a Sazerac. I was served some kind of citrusy yellow drink which did not appear to be anything like a Sazerac. It wasn't bad, however, so I drank it, thinking maybe the guy misheard me. Then I ordered an old fashioned. No mistaking that one. Well, I was served a frothing, pink mess. The guy had squashed up an orange slice in the drink, and then shaken it--two things you don't do to an old fashioned. I had to tell him he made it wrong, and he acted insulted. But the fact is, it was wrong, and I don't want to pay $12 for a bad drink.

Anyway, after that I don't go back there anymore. If you can't make one of the most classic cocktails,...

No.7 has a simple, but delicious menu that can satisfy the dietary restrictions the whole group. My friends and I went there for dinner last night. We were a group of 8 that had a reservation. The restaurant honored the reservation promptly and was prepared to accommodate a larger group, making this an ideal location for larger groups. The waiters are perfect! They are swift with a joke, efficient and not overbearing. Despite the fact that we went on a Saturday night, we were not rushed out after finishing our meal. The beer/cocktail list is great! I am more of a beer drinker, but even I couldn't resist the cocktail menu. Just as a heads up, the cocktails listed on the online menu were not the cocktails on last night's menu. I'm sure they would have accommodated a cocktail request though. With this being said, I would highly...

Let’s get this straight right off the bat. If your going to go out for dinner in Prospect Heights expect to spend about 40-50 per person with drinks and a tip, most of the time it’s whatever. But at No.7, it’s worth the cost. Casual vibes and not pretentious, younger mature crowd with few if any children. Broccoli tacos were double deckers and banging. All the sandwiches are fair priced for 2022- burger and fries slamming, chicken sandwich is HUGE and also solid. The fish soup could have been a bit hotter temperate wise, but delicious non the less. We sat in the yard and it’s lovely, next time I hope to sit at the bar, it had a nice energy when we were leaving. Sorry for blurry pic, I get uncomfortable taking food pics in the dark at restaurants.

The food here is amazing! Great flavors and fresh ingredients. We ordered the broccoli tacos, the chopped salad, and shared the burger. Everything was delicious! The burger is so good, very simple, but you can tell they use good quality meat. The salad was fresh and had great acidity to it. The tacos were crunchy with great mouthfeel and were absolutely yummy. My only gripe was with the service! It was horrible. The hostess/waitress was rude as soon as we stepped through the door. I had to flag down staff each time we needed something. When it came to the bill, I had to get up and ask the bartender for the bill. Inexcusable, especially since the food is not cheap at all. Will come back with lower expectations for service.
