North Star Cafe — Restaurant in New York

This place reminds me of the old school diners, like the ones with the lil juke boxes on the table. Remember the ones where you ate at the counter seated on permanent round stools! that swively or sat in a booth. That's the feeling i get when i visit this place. Due to covid¹⁹, inside/seated dining is not available.

Now to the Main Event! The Food, Glorious Food! Ummmm, ummmmm, ummmmm! They make it all, at all times. Except after 12pm, the grits are gone; thatsy because they're "banging like a mutha". Meaning, "They're Grrrrrreeeaaaaat!!" In a Tony the Tiger voice! Lol!

I especially love the way they make their steak, moist n juicy never dry, with some great steak sauce n sautéed spinach that comes with the order. It's just their way. I order mostly eggs, grits n shrimp w/ cheese on everything, scrumptious!

Now for the topper, show stopper of the Main Event: you haven't lived until you've tasted, I mean, devoured their homemade, made n prepared in ur face, Strawberry Lemonade 🍓 🍋 😋 😍 🤪 👌 😜 don't forget to breathe after you take a sip! Lol! Enjoy everyone!

Stopped in to have a coffee and bagel and as I'm sitting here at the counter there are 4 people working behind the counter yet not 1 person has asked me for my order. 7 min of sitting there and finally my order is taken. As I wait for my coffee and bagel at 3pm I look over the counter only to see the most disgusting site ever seen in a restaurant! Seems like the cooks moto is "save money on garbage bags and throw EVERYTHING on the floor!" (See pics attached). As I sit there in shock and disgusted, a homeless woman walks in and asks me for change (which im ok with since we should help the less fortunate) and as I reach into my pocket she starts to tell the counter person "Ya'll ever heard of a rag! This countertop is NASTY!".... That was it for me and this place.... I paid...

It seems like your average typical wanna be cafe, the food doesn't seem like it's fresh or great I have been here multiple times and have stopped going because the food is so bland. When I order home fries and bacon....the bacon is so hard it just crumbles on my plate, the potatoes are very dry, the eggs were fine but you can't mess up eggs. I've had the chicken cutlet 4 piece sandwich and I ran into the same problems with hard bacon and dryness. Their fries and onion rings are pretty dry as well or soggy, it's never a good combination. They have great strawberry lemonade, and their chicken burger isn't so bad as long as you put a condiment in it. The place is clean. I wouldn't recommend you order delivery from here, the food gets to you soggy because of how...
