Came here with a large group of my family to celebrate my parents' birthdays. The place is very nice and has a great ambiance, however they decorated everywhere with large Halloween decor and a lot of fake spider web everywhere. It was the end of September. Either way, it was very tacky and shouldn't have been done at all. The other issue with the ambiance was that every 15 minutes, they sang Happy Birthday to someone so loudly, it was very annoying.
The service was ok but no one ever smiled at us and our main server had kind of an angry look and made me feel uncomfortable whenever I interacted with him. We ordered a lot of appetizers several times and they kept forgetting to bring some items and had to be reminded a few times. The appetizers were delicious, I'll give them that, we all enjoyed everything.
I didn't ask everyone how their entrees were, but I ordered the seafood linguine and it was a huge disappointment. I am very into seafood and have had this type of dish countless times. Their version of it was not good. The sauce was like fettuccine Alfredo, which does not go with seafood at all. Regarding seafood, there were like only a few pieces of shrimp, a few pieces of calamari, maybe three mussels and a few small pieces of salmon. This type of dish should have more seafood and I should be able to actually taste it. But thanks to the overwhelming taste of the fettuccine sauce, I barely could.
The dessert was actually delicious. We ordered several plates of assorted desserts and everything was fantastic.
We spent about $800 on this dinner, between all the appetizers, wine, entrees, and dessert and while we wouldn't have wanted any crazy singing, they didn't even acknowledge that it was a birthday. I specifically told them when I made the reservation that it was a birthday dinner. They could've at least given a couple of bottles of free champagne or wine. Nope nothing. Waiter got his huge 20% tip, even though he didn't really deserve that much, and we won't be coming back. If the entree is bad and they neglect an important event and treat high paying customers like this, that really negates how good the appetizers and dessert are.
Oh the two bathrooms don't have sinks or mirrors, so you have to wash your hands outside with men and women, while everyone watches you waiting on...

In the bustling enclave of Sheepshead Bay, where the hum of Emmons Avenue meets the gentle lapping of the bay’s waters, stands Opera Cafe Lounge—a Turkish-Mediterranean haven that orchestrates a dining experience as harmonious as its name suggests. The restaurant’s ambiance strikes a chord between casual comfort and refined elegance, inviting patrons to partake in a culinary symphony that resonates with authenticity and warmth.
The menu reads like a libretto of Turkish delights, each dish crafted with an evident reverence for tradition. The Grilled Salmon Shish emerges as a standout aria—a succulent fillet, marinated and grilled to perfection, embodying the delicate balance of flavors that Turkish cuisine champions. Equally compelling is the Fried Calf’s Liver, offering a textural juxtaposition of crisp exterior and tender interior, harmonized by the subtle sweetness of sautéed onions.
Service at Opera Cafe Lounge is attentive without being intrusive, a choreography of hospitality that enhances the dining experience. The staff’s knowledge of the menu and their genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine create an atmosphere where guests feel both valued and at ease.
However, even the most well-rehearsed performances have their occasional dissonant notes. Some patrons have observed inconsistencies in the execution of certain dishes, with reports of main courses occasionally lacking the vibrancy expected from such a reputable establishment. Yet, these instances are rare and do little to overshadow the overall composition of quality and flavor that Opera Cafe Lounge consistently delivers.
In a city where dining options are as varied as the notes on a scale, Opera Cafe Lounge distinguishes itself by staying true to its roots while embracing the cosmopolitan palate of Brooklyn. It’s a place where the rich tapestry of Turkish-Mediterranean cuisine is celebrated with each dish, leaving diners with a lingering melody of...
Read moreThis spot turned to our "usual" hang out when going for food at Sheepshead Bay on Emmons Avenue. Good selection of mediterranian cuisines, place is Turkish but have few good Italian appetizers and dishes. Breakfast is great with different style egg dishes, my favorite is eggs Benedict with lox, good choice of crepes, waffles, whatever you can think of. I like their lamb shank, kebabs, doner, gyro, pasta, fried fish (branzino especially), but sometimes I order couple of favorite appetizers and a dessert or a drink, like veal liver cubes, greek salad with feta, calamari rings, you name it. For dessert my standard was kunefe, but they have excellent choice of cheesecakes, tiramisu, all sorts of middle eastern treats ( try their pudding), but lately I'm stuck on hot melty piece of chocolate souffle with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Just the smell of it drives me nuts. Drinks are hit or miss. Ill never forget when I got a tall clear glass of Long Island ice tea and had to explain, while returning the drink, that there is no such thing as clear Long Island Ice tea, because they probably forgot the coke and it tasted like all kinds of terrible. The waiter brought the barman to our table, or rather barboy, cause he looked like a teen, so I explain to him how to do the drink I want, and I've told the waiter that I don't work for the joint. On my birthday. Blue curacao, daiquiry, some other drinks I had there before were fine. Place looks modern, has double the bathrooms in different corners of it, plenty of in and outside seating, large screen TVs for kids to watch cartoons without sound, sometimes Ive seen sports. Food is never a miss for me there, so we keep coming back. We try other places in few block radius, and keep coming back, and that is a...
