This morning I dined at Opera in Staten Island and had the pleasure of trying their Turkish breakfast dish, Menemen, and it was an absolute dream! This dish is a heavenly blend of soft, perfectly scrambled eggs, gently cooked with ripe tomatoes, green peppers (I added onions pro tip), and a touch of spice that elevates the flavors without overwhelming them. The eggs were so silky and tender, practically melting in my mouth, striking that ideal balance of creamy and substantial. The vibrant, fresh ingredients created a warm, comforting dish that felt both authentic and lovingly prepared. The presentation was simple yet inviting, served in a traditional skillet I skipped the side of crusty bread that was perfect for soaking up every last bit of the flavorful sauce. The portion was generous, making it a satisfying start to the day, and the seasoning was spot-on, with just the right hint of spice to wake up your taste buds. The ambiance at Opera complemented the experience—amazing opened air sun porch with rood retracted, with attentive staff who made us feel right at home. If you’re looking for a breakfast dish that’s both soul-warming and bursting with flavor, Menemen at Opera is an absolute must-try. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to savor this Turkish delight again! Highly recommend!

That was my first lunch in that restaurant since the branch of Opera was opened on Staten Island. Impressive interior, decor and lighting influenced by the Middle East style. It is devoted in several seating areas: one with the tables, one with the sofas and one seats by the bar. Very cozy and inviting. No loud music. Service staff were helpful, honest and not intrusive. Everything arranged for great dine in. About food. Not impressed. Arugula has a lot of yellow and unfresh leaves, cherry tomatoes were soft, the dressing was just average and salads didn’t work well as a dish and on my test were just few ingredients put on one plate. We ordered arugula salad with goat cheese and arugula salad with mozzarella and tomatoes. Honestly I don’t see why those salads have a price tag for almost $18. Adana Kebab was flavourful, well seasoned, came with same house salad and rice on the side but it was dry, because it was thin and can be easily overcooked. You have to pour the yogurt and tomato sauce on the top to make it taste better but you don’t get enough of it for two kebabs. The dish that impressed was a flat bread baked in the brick oven with tasty sauce. We didn’t try many of the dishes but the food we tried had a room for improvement. Great place, nice location and food must meet the expectations.

First of all the fact that the owners are polite does not mean that the food is amazing. I would expect an experienced resturant owners and restaurant in the new location to be more professional. This resturant ambiance is better than the Beooklyn locatiın but they can still improve their vision. They are still livin in 80s. Although there were 4 tables in the place, the service was extremely slow. Unfortunately, the appetizers were untastefully and not fresh the spinach with yogurt wasnt fresh , the consistency of the humus was runny and you feel only cumin taste , the ezme was too oily, the babagannus and saksuka were better than the others. The lahmacun wasnt crispy and the filling wasnt good . The liver was soft, juicy. We ordered 200 ml Raki, the glasses came in dusty and we asked them to change it, but unfortunately second time they brought us 1 duble and 1 half raki and we asked them again please could you bring us what we ordered.Especially in America some Turkish resturants owners are thinking we are foolish and didnt understand anything.Whatever we told our feedback about food . Owner’s answer is you are the first dont like our food.He supposed to be said that thanks your feedback ,every feedback is so important for us .This answer will be understandable and acceptable .

We’ve been going to the Brooklyn location since it opened and are thrilled that it opened in SI. The atmosphere and food were exactly what you’d expect from Opera but honestly the service was better than I remember experiencing in Brooklyn. We came in to celebrate two bdays in my family, with a rambunctious toddler in tow. We had Sullyman taking care of us and he made it such a lovely evening. He was super friendly, attentive, and helpful and so kind and patient with my son who at some point decided he was done sitting and we had to physically run and get him back to our table. He also helped us surprise the bday girl and boy with cakes and helped cut them. We honestly can’t say enough about how great he was and we hope to see him the next time we are there.

The food is really good, we had a variety of dishes and were happy with all of them, same with drinks. Love that the restaurant is spacious. The Brooklyn location got so popular that it sometimes felt cramped because so many people were trying to dine there. Also love that they have a parking lot and plenty of street parking. The restaurant is good for couples but also really amazing for families. There were several other families with small children when we were there. It’s not always easy to dine out with small kids so it was very much...
