My family and I went to Trattoria Oliveto for the very first time the other night. The food and service were both phenomenal. All three of us had cocktails, including Cosmopolitans, French Martinis, and an Old Fashioned, and each drink was well-made and very tasty.
For apps, we had the following: the special calamari stuffed with shrimp, crab meat, and breadcrumbs in tomato sauce, which was extremely tender and well-seasoned. We ordered the short rib special which was served over polenta flavored with pecorino Romano cheese, and without exaggeration, these were the best short ribs I have ever had. The short ribs were perfectly cooked and paired so well with the polenta, I really cannot overstate how delicious it was. My brother ordered the meatball appetizer which was served in a robust tomato sauce and enrobed in melted mozzarella cheese—also delicious!
For our entrees, we had the special striped bass with peppers, artichokes, and caper berries in a white wine sauce, served with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. I had the veal parmigiana with penne and my brother had a white pizza with prosciutto di Parma, arugula, and shaved parm. We all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees and were so stuffed by the generous portions that we had plenty of food to bring home.

We had two apps: spinach/artichoke dip with tortilla chips (both home made) and their formaggi board (imported cheeses and meats), with fig jam, honey, and olives. Absolutely delicious. Entrees were squid ink pasta w/seafood, grilled calamari w/tomatoes and a balsamic glaze, and chicken vegetoli (thin cutlet with vegetables), sauteed in butter & brandy sauce. One of the best dinners we've had. Everything was fresh and tasty. Not overdone or masked. The seafood was so good. Desserts were tartufo, apple strudel, and pistachio ricotta cake. The chef came out as we were paying and asked how our meal was. Nice wine menu as well. Highly recommend!!!! We thanked them for a terrific dinner. Read moreAfter going here today for a Mother's Day brunch get together, I Had to leave a review. We went with an 11 top, two young ones included. Let me just say that eventually they had a special Mother's day menu, we definitely found something for everyone. Caesar salad, burrata, fried calamari, and baby octopus salad were enjoyed by all. The portions were quite generous, and all of us sampled each other's apps because each dish looked amazing. The short ribs and swordfish were in fact the best I've ever had. The ribs were even better than my own. The chef was nice enough to make one of the kids a "naked" chicken parm-as she's a picky eater, and the cutlet was the size of her plate. They were nice enough to accommodate us, as we were doing a birthday celebration as well. The waitstaff was very attentive, as well as management as well.
