This is a review of 3 places so crossposting it for Island Toyota dealership, Island Toyota Service Center, and a body shop in Brooklyn Auto Dent. This must be the worst dealership there is. I went to their repair service on quintard to get my wheel alignment checked after a parking lot collision where a person backed her car into mine. The insurance adjuster was supposed to go there to write up an estimate. When they got there the next day, my car wasn’t even there anymore. Without my consent, they sent it out to Brooklyn to some body shop called Auto Dent. The insurance had to schedule another adjuster to go take a look at my car now in Brooklyn. To make a long story short, the body shop kept my car for 3 weeks, returned it unfixed. Nothing was done. In addition, when they towed my car from Toyota Service Center to Brooklyn, they used my plates for the toll which I got billed for. Island Toyota dealership cashed the Geico insurance check for $5,600+ and returned my car not repaired. They won’t refund the money. They asked to bring the car back so they can fix it - thus admitting they didn’t fix it in the first place. The guy from Auto Dent couldn’t get his story straight either. He was very rude over the phone, first claiming he fixed the car, then saying he fixed some things, then said he can fix it if we bring it back. How could I send my car back to them? I went to another reliable body shop to get a statement that car wasn’t fixed and payed for it out of my own pocket. Filed a DMV report against the body shop already. Auto Dent, Island Toyota, Toyota Service the worst customer service, and repair service there is. I assume, they went for the insurance fraud because my car wasn’t badly damaged and if the owner didn’t know much about cars, they would’ve never noticed that the car isn’t fixed. Luckily, my husband knows a thing or two and after he brought the car home and started checking, he saw that nothing was done as per the estimate. It’s hard to see at pick up as they give you „the complementary wash” so the car is wet and you can’t see anything. We called the insurance back, they sent the local adjuster who came by and confirmed the job was not done. They were supposed to replace a headlight as per the insurance adjuster’s estimate but they glued the one that was originally on the car. When confronted, they argued that they replaced it until they finally said that they glued it. Along with the repair receipt, they attached a list of parts they were going to use for my car with addresses where they supposedly got them from. They didn’t use any. The other body shop confirmed that the bumper on my car is still the same bumper that was on the car and not a new one. They actually didn’t even put back all the clips. There are parts numbers on...
Read moreI’ve leased a few Toyota’s. Island Toyota have never given me the best price so I’ve leased else where. As for there service department I’ve serviced my cars under the included service with purchase/leased maintenance first 24 months / 24k miles. Which they fail to tell you they don’t cover all factory recommend maintenance. They only cover oil changes at 10k , fluids , tire rotations. I currently drive a 2017 Toyota tundra for my personal vehicle. But at the service center they tried to get me to pay for addition “Toyota recommended maintenance “.but getting people to spend extra money is a standard practice at any dealerships service department. I barely have 15k miles in a year and a half and I’ll that was the maintenance I was in for. I was told that my front brakes needed replacing. Which is odd for 15k miles. I drive for a living and drive multiple cars. (2016 highlander 35k brakes replaced) and (2017 f150) 35k still haven’t changed the brakes. So I was told 15k was normal. I know it’s not I stated that there was something wrong. I was brushed off about it. I feel like the brake pads have premature wear. But probably since I didn’t spend the couple hundred bucks on there” recommend maintenance” it was ignored. I do mostly highway driving on my personal car. I love the truck I’m not happy that I’m a lease I have to deal with prematurely wearing parts. And that I was ignored about it. Staff is a bit rough with peoples cars when pulling them into the lot. Even under busy circumstances you shouldn’t be gunning the cars, and jamming on the brakes to park them. And it’s multiple people doing this not just one employee. Even as much as I appreciate the car was the washers pulling the cars in and out to deliver the cars after washing have the same driving. I lease my vehicles so I don’t care as much but people who own there’s may be upset that random people abuse there cars. Every employ seemed pleasant. But there are certain things they should step there...
Read moreEDIT:
After being misled, misinformed and outright lied to, I now return to this review a year later to edit my review. Prior to signing the lease, I was told the following information:
I would be able to charge my BZ4X using Tesla superchargers (FALSE) that I could bring my car to this and any other Toyota dealership to charge my car (misleading, Toyota does not have level 3 chargers so charging to 80% would take roughly 8+ hours) and that a charge to 80% would take approximately 20-30 minutes (FALSE, it takes about 90 mins)
I signed the lease under these false pretenses, and upon discovery of their lies, I returned to the dealership about a week later on Labor Day 2023. They told me if I was not satisfied with the car by this time next year, to come back and they could help me get out of it and find something new.
Labor Day 2024 has now come and passed, and after speaking with someone at the dealership they told me there's nothing that can be done. The only reason I hadn't updated this review sooner was because I was at least able to charge the car for free using EVGO chargers for a year. That year has ended, and neither the dealership or Toyota themselves is willing to help. I was respectful and polite and received no grace from them whatsoever, so I've been forced to take to these methods.
Do NOT trust anything anyone tells you at this dealership without doing your own research first. Do NOT make the same mistakes I did. Once this lease is over I will not be returning to this dealership, recommending anyone else shop here, or using Toyota products ever again.
Original review: Dylan was absolutely incredible in helping me get the best possible deal in my price range and I wouldn’t have gotten what I wanted without his assistance. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely wants to help and make sure you’re satisfied, check out Island Toyota and ask for Dylan specifically. The rest of the team was also very kind and flexible and provided...
