The first time I visited this taproom was during Christmas, and it was packed. Their beer was pretty good, but it was so loud and busy. I came back to NYC at the beginning of August and decided to visit again to get a better experience of the place. I went on a Monday afternoon, there were two people working and about 10 customers. One employee was super friendly, the other clearly didn't want to be there, and even expressed this to me when he was cashing me out. While I was there a friend stopped in to visit him, they chatted non stop for at least 10 min at the bar while he completely ignored all of the other customers. Then chatted some more at the door before the friend left. If you don't want to be there, don't show or tell your customers, keep it to yourself.
After I cashed out and left I realized that I was over charged. I checked my credit card statement, then compared the charges to what my photos showed of the prices on the beer menu on the wall. Sure enough, I was overcharged by close to $10. I submitted a message on their website, which said I'd receive a response within two business days. After five business days of crickets I sent them a direct email. Three more business days passed with no response whatsoever, so I had to file a dispute with my credit card. Why does a brewing company with locations in multiple states and countries have zero customer service? Super disappointed, because their beer is...
Read moreGreat beer selection but rude bartender by the name of Emma! Itâs already challenging being a minority in these times and here you go making people more uncomfortable.
I Simply asked you to look at someone beer on the table, so that I can get a recommendation/idea from you as to what type of beer I should recommend to my friend. Basically looking to find something that my friend would be interested in drinking but you took something so simple and made an issue out of it, causing this whole scene and ultimately embarrassing me. It was a simple ask but you looked at me like I was stupid and just said âI am not looking over there because I wonât know what beer that is.â I didnât expect you to tell me exactly what beer it was, but I was looking for the type of beer. It almost feels like you just had a point to prove after I asked you multiple times to look and my reason for asking. I asked for another person to help and you instantly replied âwell itâs only manny and I here.â In any case, you ruin my experience. Lesson learned and I guess you won because that was my 2-3 time coming here and I will never come back after that embarrassment.
Shout out to you Manny. I appreciate you stepping in and just simply trying to help and serve great beer. We need more...
Read moreSome of the best beer in the world is served here at Other Half's small taproom outpost at Rock Center. The space is small and stylish. Simple decor that is like a smaller, more upscale version of their Brooklyn taproom. Production isn't onsite here so it is just a taproom. No food. I met a friend here at 4pm on a weekday and it was about 75% full. We took the last 2 seats at the bar. There was some seating available at the tables. When we left after 5pm it was getting packed with the midtown office crew. Like the Brooklyn location, staff is off. Not super friendly or knowledgeable, mostly focused on projecting a cool, young vibe. Bartender didn't know which hops were in which beer; I asked about a Nelson-forward beer and he said I would need to ask someone else but that person was too busy yucking it up with another customer who was clearly also a friend. It's okay, almost anything here is going to be excellent and I worked my way through about half of their menu in 4-oz pours. I visit taprooms at breweries all over the country and always find some of the least friendly crew at OH. Love, love, love the beer but could skip the pretentious attitude at...
