One of the worst hotel. Reason being
Once checked in, we noticed the ac was not working or was very slow. We lowered the temperate and left for the day. By the time we returned in the evening, the room was warmer than we left it in the afternoon. We immediately called down to ask for assistance. The maintenance staff was unable to do anything for our unit. He didn’t know how to fix it. He said there was only one person who knew how to fix it and that he wouldn’t be in till 9 the next morning. In alternative, he left us a fan.
While he was there, we informed him that casting was not working on the tv. He tired to see what was wrong with it but could not fix it.
By the morning, the room was not bearable. We called back down, the maintenance person who knew how to check it was finally in. He came in and was unable to fix it from the room. Something about doing a hard rest to the whole system. He also wasn’t able fix the tv casting and said he would switch it out. At this time, we left the hotel without knowing if anything was fixed.
In the afternoon, when we returned the ac started finally working and chrome casting also started working as it from another room. Hoping everything would stay that way, we left for the evening. Unfortentaley, once we returned it was back to 78 degrees. It was cooler outside then inside. Plus at this point the tv would not work. You had to manually turn it on and change the channels. The remote was dead and needed a wireless charger to recharge.
A different person came to check all the items. Just like the pervious person the night before. He also didn’t know how to fix the ac. Told we have wait for the morning person again. The tv was a whole issue. Checked all the wiring and nothing worked. It had to be unplugged to turn off the tv. The remote would not charge even after placed on the charger he brought. He tired another remote with no luck. With no solution, we asked for a second fan to put on the other side of bed. At first he wasn’t sure if we could have the second fan because there was no close outlet. We told him maybe an extenstion cord if they have one. He came back with the fan and no extension cord. Since there was no extension cord, he unplugged the microwave to be able to plug in the fan.
Once he left, we called back downstairs to inform that nothing was resolved. The front desk staff was unable to give any solutions. All they did was offer money off for the nights stay. We were exhausted for night as it was 2:00am so we said fine and ended the call. By the morning, we checked out and inform the staff again that room ac would not work throughout the day or night for the past two nights but decided to work that morning. We asked if there was anything else to do but they could not. He asked if anyone had offered to switch our room which they did not. If someone had, then that would have been better than sleeping in the unbearable...

Read moreI attended a graduation at Radio City Music Hall and I opted to stay as close to the venue as possible. I booked my stay at the Jewel after quite a bit of research. The location was perfect, my room, although dated, was comfortable but my TV was not working properly for 3 of the 4 nights I stayed. My family did not travel with our iPads so, aside from our phones, the TV was our primary source of entertainment when we were in our room. After going the first night without the use of the TV (but not without trying to get it to work for quite some time), we went to sleep and dealt with it the next day. The next day we contacted the front desk and asked for new remote batteries which we received promptly. This did not fix the problem prompting another call to the front desk and a visit by one of the staff to check it out Unfortunately they said that they couldn't get it to work either and that we would have to wait for a maintenance representative on Monday. By Tuesday our remote was reset / reprogrammed by maintenance and we could use the tv just in time for our last night. Upon checkout we asked to speak to a manager and Elizabeth came to greet us in the lobby. We explained our situation (which was documented with each of our calls to the staff) and we asked for some type of concession on our final bill for the inconvenience. Elizabeth politely denied our request but offered to give us a nice discount on a future stay. I explained to her that there may not be a next time as we were only in town for a graduation. I can understand if I frequented the hotel for business…then her offer would have been great. But that's not the case and, after informing her of this, her decision did not change. It still amazes me that some managers don't see the whole picture. I wasn't specific in my request and frankly, any concession would have been acceptable and an acknowledgement of my problem. Instead, I'm posting this review for hundreds, maybe thousands to see which is potentially far more costly than taking care of the problem on the spot. I work in management in the automotive industry and live every day with the reality that, without satisfied customers, you don't have business Unfortunately, the Jewel manager did not handle the situation adequately and I don't feel like there was any appreciation of...
