I am born and bred in Thailand, living in bensonhurst neighborhood over 5 yrs.
There wasn't any Thai restaurants in the hood at all. When Pad Thai Kitchen 1st opened I thought Hmm interesting.
Decided to give the try, all dishes I ordered were so good.
Gai Satay : in Thailand there are usually 2 choices, satay Pork or Beef. I guess Pork is not popular in America so all Thai restaurants cooked with Chicken. Before I ordered I was afraid its gonna be dry, but I wanna give it a try. They cooked with dark meat chicken, which is pretty good. Tender and juicy, good marinade. Peanut sauce on side were perfectly good, it also come with Ah-jaahd (sweet-vinegar) as well, which is originally served in Thailand.
Khao-Soi : its Northern curry noodles style. Its so hard to find good Khao Soi dish in NYC. they dont disappointed me at all. Rich and thick w coconut soup, also the level of spicy heat is perfect. If you're low tolerance with spicyness It might be a bit spicy to the area but if you're looking for original taste, This dish is perfect. I give 10/10
Chantaburi Pad Thai : Chantaburi province is next to the ocean so they're big on seafood. In Thailand they cooked with whole crab. This restaurant cooked with softshell crab which is an excellent choice. The flavor's on point, the noodles perfect texture. I give 10/10
The server who took my order, she's kind and sweet, also she expresses the level of hospitality which its rare to find in the neighborhood. She's knowledgeable of Thai menu which was a sweet surprise, bc she isn't Thai.
Overall, great value for their pricepoint even if it's slightly above average for area, because their quality of ingredients are definitely above average, some ingredients even have to be directly imported. Much appreciation to the chefs/owners for bringing this gem to this side of brooklyn, and i hope to thank them in person one day.
I cant wait to try other dishes and sitdown inside restaurant for a full kitchen to table...
Read moreHad high expectations for this place after seeing photos and reviews. Thought this place was authentic thai but was unfortunately a let down. I'll start with the pad krapow one of my favorites I asked for the meal to be extra spicy unfortunately it had zero heat level just a sweat gravy on the bottom fortunately I had some ghost pepper at home I added. no seasoning just a heap load of onion red and green pepper no thai Chilli minimal amount of mince very small amout of holy basil which makes the dish. Now the pad kee Mao same story no flavor no thai Chilli no seasoning very bland no heat almost no beef at all just veg and noodle mostly very dry no sauce..it's sad just like most thai places don't care for flavor or proper portions they just load meals with alot of cheap veg and cheap noodles cuting corners. when u are paying 50+ dollars you'd expect a decent meal with proper carb protein ratio...only place I've deemed authentic thai in Brooklyn is "klom klrom" in Bushwick its the closest thing to amazing authentic thai with proper flavor. I've tried plenty of thai all over ny I'm sad this place is a let down and just another basic overpriced thai that...
Read more3rd time there within 2 weeks. Modest decor, but it's all about the food.
Their Appetizer Sampler Platter showcases 6/10 their starter plus a small refreshing green papaya salad.
Kang Jerd Khai Khem (Grandma's Favorite Soup) it is had become ours too. Mini meatballs floats in a cabbage veggie soup. Reminded me of typical home cooked soups in Asian household.
Bangkok Pad Thai packaged in a paper thin egg crepe.
Chantaburi Pad Thai comes with a really crispy soft shell crab.
Drunken Noodles comes with choice of protein...and extra wide rice noodles😋 with the right amount of spicy.
Khao Soi thick egg noodles half fried in yellow curry with a kick. So far this is my favorite.. spicy, curry, and thick noodles.
Dessert! Coconut Custard: it was a bit too sweet for me. But it's dessert 😁
Thai standard - Mango Sticky Rice A must have! Not too sweet, fragrant Coconut sticky rice. Rice is blue (dont how they do that) doesn't matter... was so 😋.
