First time trying Pelicana. Food was clean and delicious. Started with something simple to get an idea of the quality. I got the spicy fried chicken sandwich with spicy ranch. It was perfect! The bun was soft and warm, thicken was juicy and crunchy. Exactly what I wanted, perfectly spicy, not too hot, a good little tingle and I tasted every ingredient in the sandwich from the chicken to the bun to cabbage and pickles all accented with a nice spicy ranch. I also ordered the shrimp tacos, my father isn't impressed by much when it comes to food and he was impressed. The mac and cheese was amazing. Finished off the meal with the mini donuts with cinnamon and sugar and donut balls with cheese. The mini CS donuts were dynamite, brought me back to my childhood when my mom used to make us those Pillsbury rolls deep fried and tossed with C and S. The donuts with cheese were good, but bland in comparison to the mini donuts. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu. I arrived on time for the pickup and wasn't bothered to have to have to wait a couple of extra minutes. The atmosphere is lively but chill and the staff are warm and accommodating. Give it a try,...
Read moreWent to Pelicana Chicken in Whitestone with my family last night and tried a few things. The food was very solid, but the pricing around extras left a strange impression. We ordered 20 bone-in wings, which were excellent in both flavor and crispiness. However, I didn’t love that they charged $2 for every sauce, whether tossed on the wings or served on the side—it feels more like a money grab than a value add, especially when most wing spots include at least one sauce option by default. We also ordered the fries. At $8, they’re definitely on the higher side, but the nacho cheese sauce makes them taste better and helps justify the price. Honestly, the menu should highlight that more clearly. On the positive side, the avocado shrimp salad was fresh, flavorful, and a pretty good deal at $15 compared to the other menu items. Overall, the quality of the food was great—crispy wings, solid flavors, and fresh salad. That said, the way sauces and sides are priced could be more transparent and less nickel-and-dime. If you don’t mind the upcharges, you’ll enjoy some tasty fried chicken...

In New York again for my food crawl decided to meet up with some friends at this local spot that just opened. Small neighborhood bar serves Korean comfort food. First off wanted to point out the Pelicans lycee beer perfectly brewed and good sweet flavor. You can taste lychee. Hopefully this goes commercial. But if you’re in there, definitely worth a try. Now to the food the Korean fried chicken with the sauces, very savory very good and they provided the extra radishes like any traditional fried chicken place. The fried calamari and fried shrimp were very delicately fried very savory very good good dipping sauce. But what was a miss was the rice dishes the Bulgogi and the chicken rice dishes were a miss unfortunately. The decor very modern very cool gives this place. It’s own vibe. I can see them being very successful as they’re branching out on all different parts of New York creating cool places...
