I would love to tell you how the food tastes but, unfortunately, I can't.
I ordered from them on seamless and received what I can only describe as one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had in a decade of living in NYC.
After an hour of not receiving my food, I called the restaurant and received what I can only describe as completely unacceptable behavior towards a customer. Eventually I got to speak to Pete (the manager) who was very helpful and promised not only that I would receive my food in 5 minutes but that he would hand deliver my next order himself (something that I appreciated on his part).
The food never came. I called again, asked for Pete, no Pete. They then told me they were canceling my order and hung up on me. I attempted to call several more times which they screened until eventually reaching someone only for him to use profanity in telling me that he was not delivering my food.
I then had to contact seamless and spend over half an hour on the phone with a customer representative to receive the credit for my food and some compensation for the inconvenience. I ordered my food at 11:23 PM. Only managed to resolve the details with Seamless at 1:20AM. Everything in my neighborhood was closed by then so... no dinner for me.
Having been deployed to Afghanistan, I've met people who've shot at me that I like more than these guys. This is by far one of the worst experiences I've had with a...
Read morePizza Haven in Inwood, NYC, is a slice joint that offers a warm welcome and fantastic pizza that'll make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is unpretentious and authentic, with a staff that genuinely cares about their customers' satisfaction.
But let's talk about the food - specifically, the mushroom slice. As Bourdain himself once said, "Good food is very often, even most often, simple food." And that's exactly what the mushroom slice at Pizza Haven is: simple, yet incredibly delicious. The mushrooms are perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. It's a slice that doesn't need any fancy toppings or elaborate preparation to impress.
The pizza at Pizza Haven is a testament to the fact that sometimes the best things in life are the simplest. The crust is thin and crispy, with the perfect amount of chew. The sauce is tangy and savory, and the cheese is perfectly melted and gooey. But what really sets this pizza apart is the way it makes you feel. With each bite, you're transported to a place of comfort and satisfaction, surrounded by the people you love.
Overall, if you're looking for a slice of pizza that will warm your soul and satisfy your taste buds, Pizza Haven is the place to go. Bourdain would...
Read morePizza is of the utmost importance to me and my motto for years was 2 slices a day. I might have to change that after discovering the joy of a Pizza Haven slice because the slices are a generous enough size that sometimes just 1 will fill my pizza quotient for the day.
I can't speak to the specialty slices or much else but when it comes to a plain slice that is reheated right it is extremely hard to beat Pizza Haven. The crust is crispy enough to stay steady in your hand (unlike Grandpa's pizza within the block which has sloppy floppy slices).
The parlor itself if pretty small but has 3 tables of 4 and a small 2-seater but locals will sit with each other at the tables as they stop in for a bite. The walls are adorned in good ole pizza parlor fashion with Coca-Cola ads and NYC sports teams and there is even a stand-up video game console in the dining section giving a cool nostalgic feel to the space.
The staff is usually great and a few of them love to talk sports while reheated your slices. If you get anything to go they wrap the pizza box like a package being sent across...
