Attention Black Brides/Bridal parties! Avoid this franchise at all costs!!
So a few months ago my Matron and Maid of Honor decided to host a Tea Party Bridal Shower and after doing some internet research, they went with Prince Tea House at the Brooklyn 21st Avenue Location.
At first glance, the Tea House was nicely decorated, the event space was airy, bright and beautiful. However, I cannot say good things as to the staff…specifically the manager. Based on my observations we feel that our party was treated poorly based on our race, which is why I am writing this review to serve as a warning for Black Brides to RUN from this place. Your Bridal Shower is hopefully a once in a lifetime event. DO NOT let these people ruin it!
Our first issue arose when they tried to cheat us out of our event time. The Bridal shower was supposed to start at 2:00 pm and end at 5:00 pm. At 2:00 pm another party was still using the space and my maid of honor was treated poorly and was asked to leave the space. The manager allowed the asian bridal party to leave on her own accord with no issues. At 2:30 pm they finally allowed my ladies to enter the space to set up and my bridal shower started at 3:15pm. The AC was not functioning properly and it was relatively warm. As the event proceeded, the manager was really aggressive in taking orders and even scolded my cousin for ordering a hot tea when she meant to order an iced tea. The waiters handed out food without verifying who the food was for. Around 5:00 pm the manager Began to tell my guests to hurry up and order their desserts to go since they need to leave the space by 5:30 pm. My maid of honor had to hassle with them to give us back the hour that was taken from us. The Manager was aggressive in getting me to cut my cake until I finally fired back at her and expressed my disappointment in her service.
My experience at Prince Tea House left me embarrassed, enraged, sad, and angry. Do not make this mistake by hosting your bridal...
Read moreIt's hard to express how wonderful this teahouse is and what it has meant to me over the years. We went to this teahouse with my 97-year-old grandmother in 2018 for the first time and had a wonderful time. The owner and manager, Joanna, came over and talked to us about her own grandmother, and was kind and accommodating in every way. Joanna remembered us each time we came after that, and I came here often as well with friends and my husband because of the cozy beautiful atmosphere, the gorgeous plating, the tasty food both savory and sweet, the rotating menu, and of course the amazing tea, all priced very affordably. It's a popular spot but if you are asked to wait, the wait times tend to be short. It's separated into the front area and the back atrium, everything is lovingly decorated, and there's lots of healthy plants in the atrium as well. It's great food and tea in a really nice atmosphere.
My grandmother died recently; we had moved away before her death, but I came back and went here again on my own to remember the times we shared here, which were some of my best memories with my grandmother. Joanna remembered me on sight, came over and asked about my grandmother, hugged me and kindly talked to me about grief, loss, and her own grandmother while I did my best to smile through the tears. She brought me a rose-infused black tea afterwards. Joanna, I will never forget your kindness and her empathy. Thank you so much for this beautiful teahouse - I hope it continues to be a beloved open secret in the neighborhood for...
Read moreMy friends and I came here as a party of 3 and when we first entered, the waiter seemed annoyed to even seat us at our table as he was on his lunch break since no other employees were to be seen at the time. We sat at the back area and when our food arrived, we wanted to switch our plates after the first dish, but there were no employees around. We kept on waiting to see if anyone came to service us, but no one did so we had to be the ones to get up from our seats and to approach an employee for service.
At the end when we got our receipt, we noticed that it had already included 18% tip in the total and had no option to choose a different percentage or to add a custom tip. Again, no one came to service us to take our card, so we had to walk up to the employees and the register ourselves to pay. We asked to change the tip to a custom tip and the waitress said “We were told to charge students tip.” We were shocked and confused and asked why and she responded that “Students don’t tip.” This seems very unprofessional and rude for a business to assume that based on our appearance that we are students and that we were not going to tip when we asked to add a custom tip instead. I am also in fact not a student. 😊
Overall, there was not much service when the employees were not very attentive to us and we had to approach them physically from our table every time we needed something and definitely DOES NOT...
