For a better experience honestly don't go on weekends as the wait times will be a bit longer even if you have a reservation. This is the new place that my family goes to for family dinners. As this place has really good Wok Qi so the food that comes out taste really good. It's really hard to find a place that will give you that type of food.
Let's talk about MSG, most restaurants will apply a bit of MSG to some of the dishes. I have been to a few places where they use it in a bigger portion and so it will dry out the mouth or just makes you more thirsty. Choi Fook though I rarely need the reason to reach for the tea or water. I can throughly enjoy the food without dying of thirst.
Banquet Food suggestions: Black Bean sauce with clams(Third pic) A classic especially if you enjoy seafood. It may be a bit scary but the black bean sauce helps enhance the flavor.
Cantonese Style Fried Chicken Also another staple, just a fried chicken with no batter so you get a direct crispy skin. I had it a couple of time and the breast meat isn't too dry but it may miss sometimes. TIP: if it's someones birthday, give them the drumstick.
Lamb and Tofu Skin Claypot (first pic) This may be a bit foreign to most people but this dish is really good IMO. Comes out in a sizzling claypot with the cut up pieces of lamb.
Black bean with steamed Eel (second pic)
ok even for me it's a bit out there. I occasionally eat it but other family members love this stuff. Honestly worth a try if you are adventurous but i believe the price may put you off. Ask before hand since it's based on weight...
Read moreEdit: June 2025 this place has gone downhill. Sad to say this place is where my family favorites. We have Christmas dinner here annually, and book up their private rooms. Tell me why this place is always smelling like cigarette smoke.
There is a lady waitress there that is very nice accommodating and overall very hard-working.
We were here recently for dinner, just our immediate family of six. One of the waiters try to upsell try to get us to order more dishes. Then when the bill came, he stated that we didn’t tip enough. What the nerve what the deuce what the hellllllll. How he treat regulars like that. I’m downgrade this from three stars to two stars.
In all fairness, food is neutral. Not the tastiest, but not the worst.
If you’re looking to spend Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, and you happen to get a reservation for this place without weight, you won’t be disappointed, but you won’t be blown away.
Hit or miss depending on who you know there. One manager is professional but he won't be around to take care of you all the time. One guy in particular was snappy and impatient with your needs as a customer. Our favorite go to dish would be mayo shrimp. Not so much for the shrimp. We've had better. But this restaurant is one of the few in Brooklyn that serves it with fried condensed milk nougats. Highly recommended that! FYI.. They have private rooms on the second floor...
Read moreBeen here a number of times and I love this place, it does help to come with a Chinese speaking friend to navigate the menu.
Typically the best dish to order although a bit pricey would be the King Crab. Typically, they bring the big guy over to your table (maybe not normal in American restaurants but it is a huge show/event). They then take it to the back and cook it based on your choice, we normally do it three ways. The first is they prepare the legs (crack them open) and its backed with garlic, oil and sometimes over a bed of glass or flat noodles and it is just phenomenal!!!! The second dish would be egg dish backed with the king crab meat and that has the sweet essence from the meat - very yummy. The third and final dish is usually the king crab fried rice, which is sooo amazing. Each king crab, of course, varies in price based on the weight - so definitely pick one accordingly.
Other dishes are your classic Cantonese dishes which are delicious, like walnut shrimp, chicken, crispy foul, vegetables, steak or honestly anything. All decent dishes, but this place is definitely great for...
