Rinconcito Domex — Restaurant in New York

I was curious to see how Mexican food measures up in New York City, given how absent it is from the cuisine where I live (DC). Well, this place certainly delivered. I ordered a burrito; it took about 10-15 min for the food to come out so it was certainly made with love : ) My burrito was delish with rice and veggies, and a hearty size. I was disappointed they didn’t include a plant-based proteins, but what I questioned him about the lack of beans, they realized for the steak and quickly corrected it with a side of beans, which was nice. And delicious! They did have vegan cheese on the menu, and I wish they were better able to incorporate it into the burrito.

The space inside looks like it’s about 10 to 15 people, with a few tables outside as well. It’s a fun vibe with string lights, the Aztec calendar hanging on the wall, and loud music (don’t bring anybody who is soft spoken).

However, one of the highlights was how friendly the staff were. It was a family joint and they exuded warmth. They chatted with us at the end of the night as we closed down the restaurant. I’d gladly go back...

What a quality of food and preparation!! The dishes are beautifully crafted by the professional hand of the chef. One can really tell there’s knowledge and passion in the cooking of the meals, highly recommended! The price was ok. If I could suggest one thing, it’d be to work in the atmosphere of the place: more lighting towards the ceiling otherwise it looks a bit depressing and sad even tho there’s very nice decorations , work on the lighting of the main room :) . Also, on another note, try not to put the volume of the tv so loud! It was pretty hard to hear each other with my friends and we were the only table there, and some guy drinking beer who kept the volume incredibly loud.

Very hit or miss. I've ordered takeout twice- the first time the food was so good that I was doing a happy food dance at home. I saved it in my apps and had told my friends in the area they MUST order from there. The second time I ordered, my entire order was wrong and the food was so bland I had to salt it at home myself. I was excited to try the birria consume but it was just straight oil with no flavor. I will say the front of house staff was very friendly both times and the place seemed clean and open.

I'll probably try it again sometime to see how it goes, but have definitely removed it from...
