Headed to 8-Bit at around 9 on Sunday evening, it was pretty crowded when we first came in, most of the tables already had people sitting on them and playing the their retro games
They have both a self checkout counter and an actual register, I wanted to get a personal recommendation and was faced with a very nice employee, honestly very warm hearted and friendly with guests although it was packed and many requests were being made. He recommended the double smash burger for me w/ fries, i got a berry berry milkshake with that. But i will have to add that i was really surprised that this place was halal friendly, which definitely made my experience a thousand times better thank you so much!
Honestly the food wasn’t crazy good, about your average burger restaurant with decent spices and burgers, same with their fries. The berry milkshake was pretty good i’d so, not too sweet nor too milkshaky if that makes sense. But I’d definitely recommend, I went with some friends and we had an amazing time eating, talking, and playing dragon ball z street fighting and another game i forgot now. It really was a fun experience I’d definitely do it again
Now my complaint to this place is for people that have a lot of time on their hands, because it took them about 50 mins to get our food ready and all, quite a while, loads of people’s food was late because they were understaffed and weren’t able to manage the crowd they had. One of my friend’s didn’t have his order announced and had to wait even longer and personally ask for his order which was sorta crazy, to add to that I originally ordered a black cherry with my order burger but changed it to a milkshake, and that took about 15 mins. Again the place is really casual and welcoming , amazing friendly staff, the atmosphere really brings me back to my PS 1 days, but the quality of service was poor if i’m being 100% frank.
also just as a little heads up there’s a secret menu i’d recommend taking a look at, worth the little extra options
Overall I’d recommend this place to my friends and anyone who wants to have a...
Read moreThis place is delicious and a really great place to hang out, especially with kids or classic video game lovers. The place is basically 80s/90s themed, from the music, to the color scheme, to the movies the big wall of tvs plays. More specifically it's gaming oriented from those eras, but not exclusively.
Each table has its own emulator with literally hundreds of games to play on it (the neo Geo games definitely scratch my nostalgia itch for the pizza place arcades of my youth), though be careful you know whether you're using the player 1 or player 2 controller, and don't get too distracted to forget about your food.
The people who work there are delightful and attentive. The food is priced pretty solidly in line with nearby places (my favorite deal is the mini box, which gives you a taste of like everything), and combined with the really cool atmosphere, that definitely jumps this place onto my list of favorites
The milkshakes are good, but the cereal in them is kinda too chunky, so it ends up having these chunks almost cake like in it (since they obviously sog up in the shake).
If anybody from the store is reading this, I'd recommend you grind up the cereal before adding it to the shake (or at least offer some non cereal flavors, like chocolate or Oreo style cookies)
Update: on weekend afternoons (probably a more specific schedule if you ask) you can often find power rangers here schmoozing with kids of all ages 😁
Update: at this point a good number of controllers are suffering from stick drift (my guess is from kids being rough while absentminded parents check out). Might get fixed with a simple reset/resetting the controller, but I can't do that for them, so I'll stick to trying to avoid tables with...
Read moreCame to 8Bit Bites to celebrate my friend's birthday this past weekend.
I could be misunderstanding the marketing, but initially thought it was an adult venue akin to Dave & Busters, but was surprised to find it bustling with kids upon arrival.
My friends came in before me and upon sitting they had to clean off a table. It is a bit on the smaller side. There are sit-down gaming consoles and arcade games and a light-up floor to add the “game room” touch. I loved that they had a Ramadan menu. My friend’s excitement to play the games was infectious, and we were all eager to join in the fun.
After a couple of rounds of Mario Kart we wanted to switch to Pac-Man and once started we noticed that the game wasn't registering to any of the controllers.
While some of us ordered food (note: no alcohol available), the phone ordering option was confusing, so we opted for in-person ordering. The staff was friendly. We tried two other games after Pac-Man and noticed the recurring problem of the controller not registering. We took a food break and my friends weren't in favor of the food but liked the dessert. Personally tried the boneless chicken, agreeing with my friends’ assessment. Disappointed by both the food and gaming experience, we decided to leave.
We went on Saturday around 8 pm, and the crowd started to get a little older when we were leaving.
In all, I personally won't return due to my experience, but I would recommend this place for families, especially middle school or high...
