Due to horrible customer service we stopped going there a number of years ago. Between my siblings and I, we used to purchase food for our family about 4- 5 days a week so our orders were pretty big. The employees complained about the length of time it took to prepare our order, but we ignored it cause we knew it was time consuming to prepare, at the same time our orders were always in excess of $70 and typically went over $110 so they should have been happy. What was the last straw for us was we noticed a few times we were overcharged so one day my mom asked for a receipt. The reaction from the person I'm assuming is the owner or manager, was as though we committed a crime. She went off on my mom. So due to the fact that the food was fairly ok, bad customer service, being overcharged on more than one occasion, and finally the lady yelling at my mom, we decided to stop going there about 5 years ago.
Last week my husband worked down the block from there and had lunch a few times, and they treated him very well so I decided to give them a try again. I must note, that one of the orders he brought home was macaroni pie, and after taking about 5 bites there was a small bug in it. I almost missed it but upon looking further, I saw it had little tentacles sticking out of it. That should have been warning enough, but I still went back and ordered.
We went in and was at first greeted by a really friendly employee, who then started filling my order. She gave good size portions, but then she stepped away and told us another employee would continue filling our order. Before the other employee could start, I'm guessing it was the owner or manager went over and picked up one of the containers, and not realizing it was ours, reprimanded the lady for "filling the container with too much food". I continued ordering and noticed the new lady started filling the containers to less than half the capacity. I didn't say anything because I know she felt badly when she got reprimanded, the 2nd lady was nice as well. My order totaled approximately $120. When I went home and was dishing out for my 6 year old son, I was shocked. Usually a container of food from any other roti shop would be enough for 2 people to get some. One order at this place was not enough to feed a 6 year old!!! And he's a picky eater!! I ordered curried eggs because I wanted it so badly. I was charged $7 and got 1 egg!! The other orders that the second lady packed were not enough for anyone to eat. It was not enough to eat with even a quarter roti!!! They packed the smaller food container to under half, I would said it wasn't even a quarter way full. The food was mediocre at best. I was truly disappointed. I would probably never step foot in that place again.
Oh, the serving lady forgot to charge for a $1 item, and since she saw how much my order was, she said she won't charge. The same lady who reprimanded her earlier was passing by when she said it, and told her to go ahead and...
Read moreSo I buy food from here because they sell some stuff that reminds me of home but after today never again will I be eating here. The employees are cool but one of my friend(Guyanese) told me about the experience he had as an employee of this place. Firstly, they have a lot of Undocumented people working there but that is not my problem, my problem is the wages they pay these people, it is $60 a day for 12 hours which is like $5 an hour. They sell the food for a very high price but they pay $5 to a human being in New York? Secondly, they have some documented employees that they pay $10 an hour. Isn't the minimum wage in New York $15? Isn't this illegal and I wonder when will our City officials investigate places or businesses such as this that takes advantage of people. We are a free nation but yet our fellow citizens are being worked like slaves and no one is there to represent them. The owners of these places must be investigated and there are many such businesses in Queens. The only way I can ask for justice is if people stop purchasing food from places like this. STOP SUPPORTING THEM. We should be moving forward not back. Please stop buying food here. 01/14/2022- Competitive pay below the minimum wage? Who is this guy fooling? Competitive pay would start at $15 an hour and increase from there. I see we have a ne Mayor and I hope he start cracking down on pay unfairness and...
Read moreOn 2/15/19.I arrived at 9pm for dinner. The food was cold and I had to heat it up in a small microwave . I informed the waitress. She said sorry. I told her 25 yrs I’m in this country, I’ve never had to heat food in a microwave at a restaurant anywhere in this world. Crazy and unbelievable. A male came out , checking the temperature of the food. Nothing changed. The waitress ask a woman who works there “should I switch on the steamer”. She said “no we are closing at 10’Oclock”. I tried a second plate with lamb. All the food was horrible and very stale. I simply regret this entire experience. The Dinner buffet is $15.00. They still hit me with a $42.83 bill. No class, no care for customers. Great ambience but very very poor food and customer service. If I knew the steamer was off , I surely would have left. This bring shame to West Indian ( Trinidad/ Guyanese flavor). I wouldn’t eat there again, even...
