Sal's Bakery — Restaurant in New York

Overall I'd give this a 3/5, the donuts are good but they aren't great, the price is decent. I was surprised at how much I liked the donut with crunchy clusters on it. I was disappointed in the black and white donut. The donuts are less greasy than Dunkin Donuts but my family of 3 didn't feel good after eating them.

B&W donut: the topping of black and white frosting isn't special, think typical black and white donut frosting flavor, doesn't match the flavor of a black and white cookie which was disappointing. The internal frosting is a sugar cream that tastes good but doesn't stand out from other bakeries.

Pb&j: The glazing on the donut is a nice thickness that adds some crispiness to the donut. Peanut butter is pretty thick, tastes nice and creamy, but overpowers the jelly flavor. Would like it if there was more jelly.

Boston cream: honestly pretty similar to Dunkin Donuts. My Mom finds the bread part of this donut to be not as good, describes it as too similar to a cake.

Jelly donut: harder dough than I'd like for a powdered donut. Jelly is a strawberry jelly that tastes mostly sweet, pretty good.

Strawberry donut with cookie dough: Strawberry topping isn't as strong of a flavor as I'd like. Cookie dough is soft with m&Ms, quite good.

I bought the pecan Danish as in the past it was delicious. Unfortunately this time, I bought it as I was going to dinner at my friend's house. I was embarrassed when we cut it, the dough was clearly uncooked. I brought it back the next day..the girl saw it uncooked, but said the other half was okay. REALLY! I DIDNT PAY FOR HALF OF CAKE. She told me to pick something else..a little too late. Was at a friends house the night before. She gave me a 18.00 store credit, but said she has to hold it. I have no proof!! She did not give me a copy of the credit. Poor management and their policy! So if you go..keep...

We ordered our daughter a birthday cake from Sal's this past weekend. She wanted an ice cream cake with two flavors and sprinkles all over the cake. I spoke with Maria on the phone to place the order. She was so helpful and accomodating. This was the first time we used Sal's for a birthday cake, and all I have to say is the BEST CAKE EVER!!! We were so happy with how it came out and how delicious it was!! We used to use another place for all our birthday cakes, not anymore.....we will only use Sal's going forward!! Can't wait to also try their specialty donuts and other...
