I was so excited for Sal y Lima to open on my block, but my first experience here 8/26 around 6:30pm was all around disappointing. The Seoul Surfer tacos “bulgogi” beef was offensively bland and dry. The vegetarian jackfruit option (which my daughter loves in the empanadas at Caracas) tasted exactly like the mushy, pre-seasoned packaged variety available at Key Food. We disliked it so much we took two bites the ordered the quesadillas for her instead. The house margarita with “mezcal” upgrade was unremarkable and missing its signature smokiness. The esquites dip was ok, but the corn tasted canned and preserved rather than fresh. Generally, the staff hovering around the host stand felt very unwelcoming, although our waitress and the food runner were nice. The pretty decor was out-staged by exclusively Taylor Swift music playing for the hour we spent there. Even my 9-year old daughter who loves her music thought it was “too much Taylor”. I’d love to see this place turn it around, but the issues seem to be coming from the top down (low quality ingredients, low standards, lack...
Read moreThis place was not for me. I went in there with a relative, and we sat at the bar, The hostess, who attended to us was really nice and attentive. The owner was also nice and attentive and checked on us, but the food was not good. The tacos were cold had no flavor and the hostess in the front which I believe is the owner‘s daughter was horrible. She didn’t acknowledge no one didn’t even crack a smile didn’t check to see how things were going. She was just a body there standing there with a face. this is my second time going there because I wanted to give it another try and it was the same response. She was not friendly. She should not be greeting anyone at the door people want to feel welcoming.. Then this other employee came in and acknowledge other people at the bar and totally ignored us like we were invisible. I’m assuming it’s because we weren’t white like they were.. It was just not a comfortable experience for me and I was kind of embarrassed because I bought family members there with me and we all...
Read moreI'm really sad to write this review as I was super excited to try the new spot that opened up a few blocks away . We went in for taco Tuesday and were disappointed, the tacos were basically all the same with the same slaw and the meats had very to little flavor . The esquite dip was OK but really was just corn drizzled with some sort of chipotle sauce ? There was some kind of altercation going on in the kitchen while we were there you could hear the fight from inside the kitchen and I guess it caused our waitress to be a bit absent and it took a while to get her to come around. Just overall weird ambiance especially for a new spot. Food was really mid even for $5 a taco I think it wasn't worth it :( the place itself inside is really cute but nothing else . Won't...
