I came all the way from New Jersey just to eat their tacos. (Of course, the purpose was to go to the beach.) However, instead of going to the beach in New Jersey, I persuaded my family to come here. Anyway, when I arrived at the restaurant, my family and I sat down at the table and ordered takeout online. Then we sat down at the table and waited for our food to come out. After about 10 minutes, the food of people who ordered later than us started to come out. I couldn't understand the situation, but I waited, thinking that the food of those eating at the restaurant would be served first. After a few more minutes, I couldn't wait any longer and finally walked towards the counter, where I found a bag containing my food lying in a corner. I wanted to say something, but I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, so I brought out the food. And some time later, I heard something shocking from my daughter. My daughter said she was sitting at the table watching our food being made and when our food was finished she saw one of the staff making a gesture for the other staff to be quiet. (Gesture of closing zipper over mouth with hand) I don't understand why they did that to me. One thing I can guess is that I didn't tip them when I ordered my food. Because I didn't feel the need to tip for take-out food. (For reference, the tacos were soggy and not very good because they had been sitting in the box for...
Read moreTacoway is cute, casual with a beachy vibe, tucked away next to a corner bar yet outside covered with big, sturdy umbrellas, tables and benches.
Service, essentially a permanent food truck is reasonable however they were missing spoons, plastic covered cups to transport sauce and napkins
They have a couple of set vegan choices and a couple of more vegan choices if you hold the cheese and cream. There isn't any excuse in this day and age, to not have vegan cheese and cream but all the food is handmade, the overall menu is small and in an area that is basically a vegan wasteland, I appreciate the effort.
Their bagged tortilla chips were perfectly salted and satisfyingly thick. The smooth and smokey jalapeño salsa, with a splash of fruity flavor grew on me. Guacamole was simple but fresh mashed avocados.
Tacos include radishes and red cabbage, and are generously overstuffed. There's two fresh juices and one tea. The marinated, pressed tofu was dry with a hard yet overall plain taste
I recommend the "beef" tacos with chopped mushrooms and undetectable pepitas, convincing in taste, texture and appearance with the savory robust red over the green sauce with...
Read moreI have been a long time patron of Tacoway Beach (back to Rockaway Taco days when it was a tiny spot down the road). I'm glad they changed the fish tacos back to fried but they are now frying the taco shells in a way that makes them greasy. You can only order in twos so if you want three you're out of luck unless you have another person that also wants three. The prices have gone up (which is expected as a lot of restaurants have since covid) but it's not enough to be asked about. I'm just stating it as an fyi. Also, they do check your vaccination card so make sure you plan on that when you get there. The papa con chorizo it all mixed together & more potato than chorizo and it wasn't my favorite. I usually come for the fish anyway. I read some other reviews saying they fish was soggy but I found the opposite. It was light, crunchy & hot. So keep an eye out and grab it before it gets cold. Also know that the pineapple/ mint & watermelon juices are a little thicker due to the pulp. It's better for you that...
