First of all, I have now been to about 10 pizza joints in the Upper East Side and no one can get a plain slice right, and most can't even get a fresh mozzarella slice right and/or add sugar.... That being said, the plain slices here are so skimpy you would need a full large pie to fill you up. Barely any cheese, barely any bread, and even less tomato sauce to the point that you barely can tell there is tomato sauce or this is pizza. The employees are incredibly rude and hostile. The guy taking orders is just yelling out "Next!" and everything is chaos. No one says hello or thank you at any point. The bigger issue is that Manhattan and Brooklyn in 2025 have zero good plain slice or pizzerias left. My guess is management in these places are trying to save money, just give us slices with cheese and bread but barely any tomato sauce. I am done with Pizza forever because I can't find a decent slice anywhere anymore. Amazing that this place exists, it looks beautiful inside with a few newer flatscreens but the pizza slices are such thin crust they may as well be the width of paper, the employees go out of their way to yell, are rushing and panicked and are...
Read moreWorkers are rude and very condescending. No prices listed anywhere. Everytime I come there the I get charged different prices from the girl with glasses that work at the cash register. She is extremely rude and nasty. I asked for a fork and she acted like she didn't want to be bothered. I know someone a few months ago recently bought the place. They need to fire and hire all new workers. They workers stand there and talk to one another and do any of there work. The tables are filthy and never wiped down. They never refill the napkins or the garlic seasoning. I have brought this up to the Chinese guy the claims he's the account but yet he wears there shirt and mops the floor. I asked if he was an owner/manager I was told no. Employees told he me he was party owner. I am always respectful to everyone and the nastiness, rudeness and consistency is lacking. In other reviews you stated that you will retrain workers how about stop giving them a chance your pizzeria is on the line. Please get rid of that lady that works the cash register. I asked for a receipt from the cash register and she charged me .50 for a receipt. Absolutely...
Read moreIf you're in Manhattan's Upper East Side and in need of a quick, satisfying lunch, Salvo's is a solid option.
My friend and I stopped in for a couple of slices and went straight for the case. The Meat Lovers slice is a savory carnival of mozzarella, tomato sauce, ground beef, pepperoni, and sausage that proves more is definitely more when it comes to toppings. Each bite is a meaty delight that keeps you going back for another mighty mouthful.
Meanwhile, the Chicken & Broccoli slice brings a balance of freshness and flavor that's a welcome twist on the usual suspects. It's a slice that's got your back, whether you're craving something hearty or looking to trick yourself into eating a little healthier (vegetables and all). The tender chicken, well-cooked cooked broccoli, and ample cheese sit atop a crust that's crisp yet chewy, giving each bite a satisfying crunch and plenty of flavor.
Overall -- the vibe was casual, the service was quick and Salvo's knows how to toe the line between crunch and chew. While it might not be reinventing the wheel, it's a reliable spot for a lunch that's...
