Location - perfect if going to NY Presbyterian hospital for any reason. Plenty of food trucks on the street, restaurants easily within walking distance and valet parking. No complaints with parking - not a mark on my car and delivered quickly when we left. Parking ticket was validated at the hotel saving me $14 for a total $120 for 2.5 days. ||Overall hotel - it was great for what we needed, it's older but very well taken care off. Lobby was clean, the 6 elevators worked well, and they had a place to hold my bags before and after checkin-out.||Rooms - I had 2 different rooms during my stay but both were very well kept and comfortable. The first and the one in the pictures was a King Apartment. ( I believe that's what they called it.) Separate living room and bedroom, and a large bathroom. The next room had 2 double beds and a smaller bathroom. Both had a kitchenette with a fridge, micro, stove and dishwaser. The ac worked fine, and there was a space heater and air purifier in the closets. Water pressure and temperature for the bath was very good. Beds were comfortable but thats always subject to what everyone likes individually. ||Staff - hats off to Taina R. She was such a blessing to have at the front desk. I needed three nights in the city. I had one here and 1 at another hotel, but none for the night in between, which I was hoping to stay at the hospital with my husband that night. With the UN in session this week, i couldnt get a room anywhere prior to coming and had mentioned that. Thankfully Taina looked for a room and came through for me with a king suite. It was a good thing because I would not have been able to stay with my husband as he was still in the icu. She told me she'd keep looking for a room the 3rd night so I wouldn't have to switch hotels. When I checkout of the first room, they held my bags til check in for the next room. The lady, sorry missed her name, at the counter that morning snagged me a room for that last night. We were thrilled to have one place to stay. What really put our stay over the top was indeed Taina. She was there at checkin, again each night and at checkout. My husband had brain surgery, anyone could tell this young lady genuinely cares for the guests they way she inquired about him.||The rates for our stay were very reasonable, less than...
Read moreVERY spacious, clean rooms, esp for NYC. Apartment-like sizes & layouts for studio & 1 bedroom. Wall of closets in ea. Doors had working NY apartment doorbells. ||Can’t beat price. Plus, no hidden fees or resort fees. ||Building is 36 floors w/ 5 floors for the hotel, 8-12. Most of the rest of the floors are apartments w/ studios to 3 bedrooms for medical staff, such as doctors, nurses & other staff. Good mix of ppl, all ages & families, going about their day. Looks & feels like a safe, thriving, well maintained, UES family apartment building. Didn’t hv transient feel of a hotel or that of a medical facility. The setting actually made me feel energized & not sick.||Stayed in Corner Junior Suite & a 1 bedroom. Both very clean & very quiet. Full kitchens. Full refrigerators & dishwashers. Jr suite had full 4 burner stove & oven. I bdrm had stove slightly smaller, but 4 burners. Both kitchens had new cabinets & countertops. Both had couches & sm dining tables w/ chairs. ||So much space my adult son who lives nearby came to visit me in the studio & was stunned by how spacious it was. It didn’t feel cramped or like a hotel room. ||Some reviewers complain mattresses are old, but ours weren’t old, they just weren’t firm. Some also complain furniture & decor is dated, but so what? There were some minor dings, but it was all clean. I’ve stayed @ Walker in Greenwich Vill for way more $ in a tiny room w/ worse banged up furniture, dusty room & dirty elevator. ||Staff was always incredibly helpful & friendly. Front desk staff remembered our names from day 1 & always greeted us as we left & returned. ||Tried to book online initially, but there was no avail, so I called & they were very interested & accommodating & booked my dates w/ a last night room change. Volunteered how to get to my hospital, how near it was & what was in the neighborhood. Asked if I needed anything special. Very kind. ||Great location. Near to all major hospitals. Near to everything, 1 block over. ||If you’re ill or getting treatment, there’s nowhere better to stay. Esp good for long stays. ||I loved it so much, I booked return stay for next month...
Read moreVery convenient location, not the kind of place I'd stay for pleasure (dated, dark, a bit dismal) , but for the purpose of being near the hospital, it would have been great if it weren't for the staff. I pre-paid and called to say I'd be very late. Turned out we went to the hospital first due to complications, then I got there at 8AM so I could at least sleep for a few hours after having none the night before. Front desk was annoyed and said we already checked you out, "You should have called". I apologized and said things got crazy, can I please check in to my prepaid room until check out time. I did check in (they didn't tell me how to use the elevators - had to figure it out on my own, you have to choose your floor on keypad and scan key before an elevator will open for you.) Finally got to room, was exhausted so tried calling the front desk to ask if I can check out a little later so I can rest for about another 1/2 hour. Front desk did not pick up! So I went downstairs and asked in person. The woman immediately said NO, the people are here already waiting for their room. Ok, well check in is 3PM and this was noon. So why can they check in 3 hours early and I can't check out 1/2 hour late? Just at a difficult emotional time and staying specifically in a place you would think would be more pleasant and understanding, I was pretty disappointed in their attitude. Even if the answer was no, it was handled in an unpleasant way. Next time, if there is a next time, I'll stay in a regular hotel. They're usually more...
