Sam's St Deli & Grocery — Restaurant in New York

The dynasty of a wonderful Middle Eastern family has been elbows deep in the local corner deli (bodega style....oh, how appellations change over time!) business for many years. I fondly remember the ur-patriarch who has made occasional revisits to everyone's delight. His children were groomed to running the family concerns. If here we speak of the deli on the junction of 80th St. and Jamaica Ave., I know this as Sam's. The other stores may or may not belong to the same family and the boss is a wise and wonderful young family man. They make great sandwiches with side dishes. A full complement of beverages, including many types of both domestic and imported beer are available. Also, a sensible assortment of household products, canned food, frozen desserts, are stocked. A related branch across the Avenue prepares grilled breakfast items excellently. Later in the day, Sam's takes over that particular. Naturally, expect to pay more for a can of roach spray here than at any of the innumerable 99 cent stores that congest the landscape of all NYC boroughs, but if we're talking 2am, we rely upon Sam's and other similar 24/7 stores. Keep in mind that this is no singularity in the plethora of other nearby corner stores. Part in large part of my appreciation is based on my being a regular customer. Best sandwiches in the area. 24 hr. spot, great selection, decent prices. Just be weary when they repeat back to you, they have broken English, tend to misunderstand and make wrong order. Just have to be careful ordering but overall, best in area. Coffee is pretty good too. Lots of stores with lousy coffee in Woodhaven. Why ghetto stores make the best coffee?? Because they Dominican, i guess, lol. This Arab store is pretty good...

Been going there since I moved into Woodhaven from Bushwick... Best Deli, Service and HARD WORKING PEOPLE!.. I Just got a SAMICH!!! with 2 Modelo Negro's and I'm About to go back for round 2... NO WHERE ELSE CAN YOU FIND THAT AT 2:38AM...
