Sammy’s Halal — Restaurant in New York

As I’m walking in, I see a gentleman walk out and I kindly ask, is it good? He nods so I proceed to walk in. I wanted something different than just chicken over rice so I opted to try the tandoori chicken wings…little disappointed that a) it’s double the price of a platter dish (was $13.50) and b) I still see some feathers on a few c) presentation? d) the preparer used bare hands to handle raw chicken throwing it into deep fryer and e) literally it was in the deep fryer for less than 45 seconds and he goes ‘it’s Rdy’ when I asked him, how long has this place been open for… It saddens me because when you see it like this, it makes you wonder, what...

They don't season their rice. Their chicken isn't marinated, or at least it's tasteless. Why pay more for less when halal carts prepare better quality for cheaper? There was literally no passion in the food I ate. You'd think if you had a store front and a kitchen, the food would be better. Nope. There are carts on every corner with portable kitchens that do a better job every day and with every meal. This gets a two star instead of one because they take credit card (whereas most carts only deal in cash).

A bit pricey and the food was just ok. Not a place I frequent, but I've been here a few times or had delivered. We didn't try their burgers so can't say much about that but I had their chicken platter, chicken gyro, fries and they were a bit bland.
