Nice bit of civilization in an otherwise less civilized section of Brooklyn. Sprawling and verdant campus with several school halls featuring fine architecture. The college's policies are strictly yet equally enforced, which is admirable. I know of at least one alum who went on to a promising career in federal law enforcement... though I also know another alum who went on to a promising career in federal penitentiary, so the college's what you make of it at day's end.

A nice traditional college campus, definitely loved it although some halls and rooms of the buildings definitely feel overlooked and poorly maintained. Can't tell when was the last renovation but it's nonetheless a beautiful campus and I love it quite a bit. The surrounding area makes it really easy for a quick bite to eat too and I had no trouble getting in.

Beautiful campus and one of the oldest in Brooklyn. College has been renovated in the last two decades. It is very pleasant to walk around the beautiful campus. College has pipeline high school, which funnel students into 4 years of college.

This is my second semester and I'm starting to wonder how this school is even accredited. Its basically a glorified, poorly run community college. Attending classes here feels like being in the 13th grade, complete with actual bullies, students who talk through classes, and teachers and staff so disheartened by an awful work environment that anyone employed here for more than a few seconds has basically stopped making any effort at all.

Undergraduate classes are taught at a pretty low level. You won't learn much. And grading is often arbitrary. So, while its easy to earn a B, earning an A is based on your ability to decipher the convoluted puzzle presented by your professor and luck. Trying to get help from them during office hours is usually a waste of time. They're not even required to hold office hours so some don't and others just sweep you out the door.

As others have mentioned, the class registration is made to be so difficult and class seats and sections are so limited its unlikely you'll be able to graduate on time no matter what you do. Every time I try to enroll in classes I get some error message preventing me and by the time I'm able to induce any staff member to help me, at least one class has closed out.

Attempting to interact with staff here and induce them to do their jobs is an experience on par with interacting with the customer service of a cable company or the staff of the DMV. Emails aren't returned. Basic services that other schools across the country provide are just not provided here including things like a new student orientation or a career center. (The "Magner Career Center" here is really just a room. The staff direct you to the center's website, which only displays error messages.) You're very much on your own to find employment or internships in a unfavorable employment environment while the students/graduates whose schools help them hold a considerable competitive advantage. So by the time you have graduated from this school (and a small minority do) you'll be in a poor position to be employed since your resume won't have the internships or relevant work experience that other schools' students will have. You'll basically have a useless degree.

The library lacks even one room for quiet reading so studying here is virtually impossible. The students just use it like a student lounge. The other day I saw a group of students playing poker with music on in there. There are a lot of computers in the library, as paid for by your technology fee. But mostly students just use them to watch movies and play video games. Ive learned to just hunker down on a bench on an upper floor of a lecture building anytime I need to read or study.

The tuition is certainly lower than private universities. But so is it at all the other SUNYs and CUNYs. I had previously gone to SUNY Geneseo which is a functional college where I was able to learn things and graduate in four years. This doesn't even compare in terms of what you get for your money. On top of the tuition there are a lot of fees that go towards what, I'm not sure. Activities and clubs that are invisible. And services that don't exist.

The one bright side is the exterior appearance. The modern buildings are unfortunate. But the three brick buildings that were built during the 30's are nice-looking on the outside. And the grounds crew seem to be the one department that put in real effort. You won't find one piece of garbage on the lawn or a flake of snow on the sidewalks,...

I transferred here from being in private school K-12 and one for my freshmen year, and no, I'm not the typical cliche rich brat either. From the entrance process to this school, was strange. While entering here, I also happened to be in the process of having a full-blown legal safety name change for reasons that I won't get into, but were very serious and for my safety. I was announced publicly in the library room when and where registration was taking place, "oh this is the name change girl!" with TONS of other kids, maybe potential class-mates, with this woman doing the registrations annoyed because I was confused with the process, then proceeded to address my mother (who intervened from outside, was pretty embarrassed at this point, obviously) as if she just got off a plane from Afghanistan last night and can't under nor concept English.. haha. right...

However, some upper authority emailed me a beautiful apology and BK college gift bag so that was sweet. Moving along, not one of my professors actually hold a PHD besides one and one is actually like, 25 I think, somehow. Besides that one in particular, you feel the constant wrath of annoyance that these adjunct professors clearly make low wages and are annoyed with CUNY (rightfully so though!)

I am a 3.4 GPA student (and was in an even more prestigious and challenging university prior to this, too!) and was accused of in 1 class "plagiarizing" because I used one very common sentence consisting of FOUR words that on safe assign detected in apparently correlated to another students paper from 2007 I never even read before.. really? It was coincidental! I thought of it off the top of my head. Then a student I don't even know who I'm pretty sure cheated off of ME, received the same grade, and the professor with NO PROOF, I was DENIED an explanation too, decided I cheated off of him and 3 weeks later! Not even after we got the test back the following Thursday, and thus I started receiving different (and more difficult!) exams isolated to the front of the room which I just wound up dropping the class because of how overall humiliating that clearly is and I have been academically honest my whole life and EVERY school can vouch for me so I didn't have time to deal with that.

It's a shame, because the campus is beautiful. It's diverse and caters to all different groups and backgrounds. As for the inside, it looks like a high school in most buildings. I haven't been enough to CUNY's to decide if maybe thats just how it is, but I heard BMCC and Hunter College seem to look pretty nice. I think they need more experienced professors who enjoy their jobs and are available. If someone has there office hours 4-5 and doesn't show up until 4:40, it's really...

I needed a letter that I attended college there, and that I no longer attend there. I was told to email lavada Lawton, administrative assistant to the registrar. I emailed her 2 week ago March 6, 2018 didn’t get a response wish I never did. When I finally got in touch with her she was very nice in my emails I explained the purpose of the letter, and that I needed it ASAP! which we all know the meaning of! When I finally spoken to her on Thursday 3/15/18 she stated and I quote! ā€œIt will be sent by close of business Friday.ā€ I thanked her. She stated to me she will fax it to the necessary person then send me a copy for my records, as I stated to her I wanted. The letter was never faxed that day. I emailed her to find out if it was issued on Friday, never received a response. On Monday 3/19/18 I left another email no response, so I called the registrar’s office I spoke to her at 11:45am once again, to tell her I needed this letter and how imperative it was that it be faxed. Once again ā€œ I’ll fax it at 12 pm no I’ll fax it at 1pmā€ ok fine thank you! 1pm came and gone no fax no cc’d to me to let me know it was done which it wasn’t! So I called other departments to explain the situation. When I finally reached ms. Lawton again she went ballistic! Talking about she has anxiety, she stressed she don’t work on my time but on hers wouldn’t let me talk then hung up the phone! I called edu I was transferred to Monica Rivera assistant registrar I explained what happened while I was speaking to her lo and behold she emailed ms. Rivera to let her know she sent the fax. Ms. Lawton need to seek mental help! She gave me the wrong email to a Mildred Rivera not Monica Rivera, on the cover letter she put Tuesday date which is 3/20/18 yesterday was 3/19/18 to be sarcastic on the cover letter she wrote ā€œ mean went through Okayā€ she had it circled like I’m dumb so she had to do that so I could understand . She also wrote like she spoke to me before 10 am which she didn’t. She was very unprofessional how she spoke to me on the phone, your in a business setting not at a game in an arena! Ms. Lawton needs some professional help I’m writing this cause I don’t want another person to go through what I had too! She also was sending me after all this someone else’s information name Rachel Lebovitch!! Everyone else I’ve spoken to were great very helpful! I want to thank everyone that was very understanding and helpful in this matter! I gotten a call from the registrar himself don’t remember his name but he apologized to me on what happened with ms Lawton , I thanked him, that’s a true gentleman took time out him busy schedule to...
