Hugely disappointed in my experience with this shop. I placed an order for a Last Ronin comic back in early November. It was listed as in stock. Almost two weeks later, I hadn't seen a shipping notice, so I sent an email to make sure that I had ordered from a legit site. I waited several days but received no response. So I called in and spoke with someone who, without asking who I was or for my order number, said that my book was probably going to go out. Wanting more reassurance, I gave them my order number and asked for confirmation. I was told that the order would go out that day and I'd receive a shipping notice. I received no such notice. I called in a few days later, informing them that I had not received the notice. I was told, again, that the book was all packaged up and would go out that day and I would receive a shipping notice the same day. Again, I received no such notice. I waited a few more days and then sent a second email asking for confirmation that the book had gone out. I received no response. So a few says later, I called in again. I explained the problem and all of the promises that had been made to send out the book and the person on the line identified himself as the owner, Hank. Hank apologized for the problems and told me that he would personally make sure that the book went out that day and that I would be receiving a tracking number to that end within minutes of him hanging up the phone. That part, Hank lived up to. I received a tracking number shortly thereafter. However, that was the last and only update to the tracking in a week and a half. To this day, they have still not shipped this book.
I'm not sure what's going on with this shop but a month of playing games with a customer rather than simply shipping the book that is "all packed up and ready to go" is a kind of fishy that reeks more like a scam than a professional business. Based on the artists who work with this shop, I expected a different level of professionalism.
One star for the service plus one star for, I don't know, having cool images of comics online? It would have been nice to receive what was...
Read moreIt’s one of the last remaining independent comic shops in Brooklyn. Definitely a rarity these days, they sell more than comics of course to stay afloat, and also to stay with the times. Yes, it’s a bit cramped but in a way it adds to the feel and charm of the store. Game section is limited but you’ll find something good at times. Skateboards, keychains, t-shirts, some action figures, walls of comics, card games, DVDs, among other hobby real nerdy things you’ll see. Personally I’m a OG from the Fort Hamilton location that doesn’t exist anymore, Yu-Gi-Oh was big back then good times. Sad to hear Jean passed away, damn that hit home when I found out years later. Anyway Hank is a cool dude, albeit he may have his own bad days but we all do too. How he’s managed to keep going into the 21st century. With so much competition from online sites, it’s honestly commendable because others would had folded many years ago… support local we need...
Read moreI have been a part of the Bulletproof family for 30 years now. Whether it's games, cards, comics, memorabilia, etc., Bulletproof has it! The quality of service is spectacular and Hank the owner is one of the most amazing people you will ever meet. His knowledge of everything within the realm of this business cannot be compared. I recently moved to Staten Island and to get to the store is an hours drive plus toll. I refuse to buy anything elsewhere! With Bulletproof you receive respect, dedication and top notch expertise in every experience. Hank has always shown that no matter the item or advice he will have it. His art gallery is insane and so cool, and I am loving all of his social media out reach opportunities he provides to his customers. If you have never gone to Bulletproof Comics you are missing out and I strongly suggest you go as soon as possible. But I warn you all....you might...
