Everything we tried was good even the sliced red onion which came with the dishes. We never knew pickled red onions tasted so good. Aside from that, we ordered Greek salad, Lagman, lamb chops kebab, and Kuskovoy lamb. We wanted to order Plov Sitora which is seasoned rice with lamb (usually) and carrots, but they didn't have any which is ridiculous considering this type of rice dish is the national dish of the Uzbeks no matter country they live in. We have Afghani friends of Uzbek descent who almost always make this rice dish when we come visit them or when they come visit us. This restaurant does not even have cooked plain rice. Not to mention, the price of every meal cost more for little portion as what other commenters also spoke about. We would rather go to Farida in Manhattan at least the food portions there are more in comparison to Shashlik. You will never leave the restaurant hungry when eating at Farida.
In reference to the atmosphere, it was nice. It looked like the restaurant was set up for weddings but kept it all year round as what we saw from other commenters' photos.
At least our waiter was nice and attentive but the question is, would we go back there again? We love the food they served us but too expensive for the small portions and the availability, no. We will not go...
Read moreI recently dined at Shashlik Uz N1, and it was a delightful experience! The restaurant offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the shashlik - the kebabs are succulent, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The lula kebab was a standout, bursting with flavor and incredibly tender. The variety of salads, especially the simple yet flavorful ones, complement the main dishes wonderfully. I also appreciated the generous portion sizes, which make it great value for money. The service was attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.
One minor downside was the noise level, which can get a bit high during peak hours, but it's a small price to pay for such delicious food and excellent service. Overall, Shashlik Uz N1 is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Samarkand/Uzbekistan and Central Asian cuisine in Brooklyn! The restaurant's decor is charming, with traditional elements that transport you to Central Asia. The menu also offers a variety of other dishes, including plov and manti, which are equally delicious. Whether you're a fan of meat dishes or prefer vegetarian options, there's something for everyone at Shashlik Uz N1. I highly recommend...
Read moreThe service in this place is not good at all. The waiter touched some of the food with his hands when he was serving plates. They don't welcome customers. And waiter was unpleasant, looked like he was unhappy to serve, perhaps he is not happy with his work. The door step is not safe either, you can easily trip when entering or leaving the restaurant. The waiter didn't serve the drinks, we had to do it ourselves. We had three kinds of kebab, one was liver, the second was beef kebab and the third was ground beef shish. I personally don't recommend to eat liver , it was mushy, and not very fresh. We also ate soup " shee" which was ok. The green salad and fresh tomatoes salad were good. I didn't not like the service because waiter was distracted with his cell phone and would only address us after few minutes, though there were no other customers in the restaurant when three of us were eating there. Another personal of the restaurant was eating at one of the tables. When I went to the washroom I found that washroom is located close to the place where food is coming from. It was disgusting. And the price for the food for three people were $180.00. it doesn't worth it . I would not recommend this place because of the poor service, lousy atmosphere and unjustified...
