Sidebar Cafe — Restaurant in New York

I have gotten the Seizure Avocado sandwich at this deli several times and it is usually delicious, however the past 2 days it has been prepared incorrectly and is disgusting. The panini bread is STALE and for some inexplicable reason, they have started cooking the red onions on the grill before adding them to the sandwich (they are supposed to be raw red onions!). They’ve also skimped on the sauce & avocado. It has been incredibly disappointing. I even told them today that my sandwich was prepared wrong yesterday — and it was again prepared incorrectly — dry, overcooked chicken, more grease than sauce, cooked, limp onions and one piece of avocado on the toughest, stalest panini bread ever. I needed a juice drink that will keep me revitalized for the day, so I went to Sidebar Cafe to check it out. The whole cafe looked spacious, lively, clean and organized. People were having conversations and ordering the various foods there. They even have a stand where you can choose cooked food to put in your plate before purchase. My interest was in their juices. It turns out that their Green Power option was delicious, and the server was the manager. The customer service was excellent and I enjoyed my stay. The recommendation to come here was from my colleague. When I visited again, I finally got a small buffet order of plantain and pepper steak with fried rice. This place is truly a hidden gem! The prices are super reasonable, which is perfect if you’re looking for great food without breaking the bank. What really stood out to me was how heartwarming and kind the workers were—they made me feel so welcome and cared for from the moment I walked in. You can tell they genuinely love what they do.
