Sidewalk Tacos — Restaurant in New York

I visited Sidewalk Tacos for the first time last night. I purchased shrimp tacos, pork tacos, guacomole, and steak quesadillas. My order came to $35. The cashier stated that they did not take American Express, although the sign on the door indicated they did. When I told her that I didn't have any cash on me, she stated that she would allow me to charge it on my American Express "this time, because it's your first time here." That doesn't make any sense, either you take it or you don't. If you don't then remove the sign from your door that indicates that you do. I really should have checked the order before I left. When I got home I realized that the guacomole was not made fresh. It had brown film on top of it. In an attempt to cover it the workers had place pico de gallo on top of it but the brown coating was still there. The pork tacos were just shredded pork in taco shells. No lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, sauce or anything else. To make it worse the pork was fatty and flavorless. No seasonings at all. The shrimp were not fresh and were broken up. I don't think they were fresh. The shrimp tacos had more lettuce and tomatoes then shrimp. After tasting the tacos and guacomole I tossed them in trash because I was concerned that they were not fresh and might make me sick. The steak guesadilla was actually tasty but the entire tortilla was really wet. All in all ot was a waste of my time and money and we ended up ordering food from another restaurant. I did call the reataurant twice today and spoke to a female both times who told me that the manager was busy and unavailable to talk. I've been coming here for about a year and half now, and It's my go to for a quick lunch. Great portions and the food is pretty good, and they show managed to keep their prices relatively low even after the insane inflation levels. The online ordering system makes ordering a cinch. You can create an account to make ordering even faster. They have never gotten an order wrong or mixed up, and I've been there almost 50 times at this point. (I have the email receipts to prove it!)

They are super quick a preparing food and all the workers have been friendly and attentive in my experience. This is not a place you go to for happy hour or to dine in with a group of friends. The seating arraignment would make that awkward at best. It's best for take out.

I'm not the biggest fan of their chicken dishes, but the pork and vegetarian dishes are rock solid. There is plenty of competition in the neighborhood when it comes to Mexican food, but if you need something quick (rápido) and flavorful (sabroso) this is certainly a...

I only ever get steak nachos. I consider myself a steak nachos conneseur I have eaten the steak nachos from mostly all restaurants in east Harlem multiple times and sidewalk tacos is the one I keep coming back to. These nachos are actually nachos meaning they don't melt before you get home to eat them. The nachos at taco mix are pure trash. The nachos at lupitas melt before you get home to eat them although I have to mention lupitas nachos are incredible. The best recipe in the entire neighborhood PERIOD but only problem is the nachos melt!!!!!! If you can take the lupitas nachos secret recipe and use these sidewalk tacos nachos instead of the nachos they use at lupitas it would be the best steak nachos recipe of all time and the history of Spanish Harlem. Fyi If you wanna get your mind blown try the lupitas nachos... but be warned those nachos will be fking melted by the time u sit down but what they put on those nachos is magic...
