I ABSOLUTELY love this special gem. The Beauty Cave has literally transformed my disdain for my natural hair into love and passion and acceptance of my God given Crown. The staff is PROFESSIONAL. This is NOT your average Black Owned Salon. I dislike to mention race but I think it is a misconcenception that Black Owned Salons are not worthy, skilled, knowledgeable or proficient in hair care. I am here to dispel this and let you know that The Beauty Cave stylist are masters of their craft. The owner Najee is a wonderful person and it is obvious when you enter the salon that not only does she care about her establishment (CLEAN, chic, cozy, great positive atmosphere, amazing music), but she also cherishes her employees. Britney, Ketia, Kelli, Stephanee, Taaliyah and Vonzell just to name a few are Superb. They do their job and they do it WELL. I love their work ethic. It is all about the client. The employees are all business but also personable which is very hard for a lot of Stylist to exhibit. The stylists mentioned above know how to maintain the "thin" line between working and "fraternizing." Meaning, that they play great music, give great advice about haircare but what they are not doing is taking breaks to eat or sit around and gossip (which has turned me off from other salons). The staff takes care of their personal business when they deem fit; Not when they are in the middle of doing my hair. The techniques used makes it feel like I'm having a spa day. I have natural 4c hair and when I receive my hair treatment from any of the employees mentioned above it is so soothing. I do not feel or hear them ripping the comb through my hair. I have all of my children attending as well. My 7 year old daughter was afraid and hesitant when I first took her but after her initial visit for a silk press she said "Mommy I didn't feel any pain. It was like Ketia was not touching my hair." In response I said, "I told you now you see why I love it here." Now, my 13 year old who was afraid due to past horrific experiences HAPPILY attends the salon. We will continue to come. They beg me to make their next appointment before we leave the salon. Najee you have a great business keep up the great work. Btw, Britney has an excellent suggestion about selling braid hair , extensions, etc. Please take into consideration because for people like myself i am not fond of the type of hair I should purchase if I want a ponytail or quick weave (options I would love to explore in future). I can clearly keep going on about the wonderfulness of this place but ladies and gents go and experience...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but I had such a horrible experience that i feel that it would be irresponsible for me to not warn other curly girls about this salon. i wanted to support this business so badly, especially seeing that it was black/woman owned.
this was my first time at The Beauty Cave, and I most certainly will NEVER BE BACK. I booked an appointment with the owner, Najee, online, and was hopeful to have a great experience, since i saw such great work being advertised on tiktok.
I enter the salon and both of the girls there both look at me as if i'm BOTHERING them by just showing up. i tell them i have an appointment with Najee, and they look at me super confused, so i tell them i'm in for a silk press, trim, and deep condition. the girls glance at one another and one of them tells me to sit at a wash bowl. I wish i knew this woman's name, but she didn't speak to me for the duration of my appointment.
she washed and deep conditioned my hair fine. she sat me down in her chair and proceeded to spin me around for the duration of my appointment, so i couldn't see what she was doing. she and the other woman talked it up the whole time she was blow drying my hair. i didn't really feel a lot of warmth being blown, but i wanted to trust the process and not mess with her method. then i feel her combing my hair a bunch, or so i THOUGHT. she was actually pressing it, but it was on such a low heat setting it was doing NOTHING.
she then proceeds to start cutting my hair. i instantly speak up once i hear the scissors and say that i wear my hair natural 99% of the time and i want to retain my length so i just need the TINIEST bit off (my exact words). she cuts and cuts and cuts. and then spins me around. i wanted to sob just looking at it in the salon mirror. she took off like 3 inches of hair, and it looks barely blown out, let alone SILK PRESSED.
she takes the apron off of me in silence (again, she said nothing to me this whole time), and i am just ready to go so i put my money on the counter, pass off a tip. and run out.
to reiterate, i never leave bad reviews, and i LOVE to support black businesses, but i will NEVER return to the beauty cave. the customer service was terrible and i currently feel like the ugliest person alive. my hair means so much to me and it was all taken away in mere minutes. I sincerely hope the shop can rectify this...
Read morePLEASE donât go here if you care about your NATURAL hair. I came in hoping to find a salon that specialized in natural hair, but I was sadly mistaken. If I could give ZERO stars, I would!
The music was way too loud for a morning appointment, but that wasnât even the worst part. I originally booked with a specific stylist (based on their instagram videos is how I chose because she specialized in NATURAL HAIR).
When I arrived, the girl at the front casually said she wasnât there without clarifying that the stylist I booked with no longer worked there. Instead, she directed me to another stylist saying âSheâs just as talented.â
Thatâs where everything went downhill. I asked for a simple cleanup and showed her pictures oh myself⌠with wispy bangs and all she had to do was freshen up my haircut. Instead of focusing on my hair, she was chatting with another stylist and said things like, âThis wonât take me long, I should be done soon,â as if she was in a rush.
She cut off random chunks of my hair without asking, then used a wig razor on the front, thinning it out so badly that my hair still sticks up to this day. She went over my hair multiple times with the flat iron and I wasnât even facing the mirror.
I came in with healthy 3C/4A bra-strap length hair. By the time she was done, it was so damaged I had to track down the original stylist I had booked with in the first place just to fix it. Because of the beauty caves negligence, I ended up having to cut my long healthy hair into a bob. not only that the wispy bangs I asked for, which were already wispy they were just long are now blunt and thick cut bangs that stick up because she sliced them off with a razor. WITHOUT ASKING ME
This was actually my second time at this salon (the first time was just for a wig install years ago), and itâs clear that no one here cares about the integrity of natural hair. If you specialize in wigs and weaves, say that. Donât pretend you know how to handle natural textures when you clearly donât.
My appointment was in April, and only now after finally getting my hair done by the original stylist at a different salon has my hair started thriving again.
!!!!! Stay away if you care about your natural hair. !!!!! In the photos you can see how my hair curls up tight in spirals and after my service it appears straight, loose, &...
