“Owl you need is coffee” 🦉 ...I mean come on how cute this name for starters. Today makes 3 days in a row that I have come to this lovely coffee shop in Red Hook. Mind you I don't drink coffee but I stumbled in here looking for a refreshing juice. Instead, I found a handful of tasty pasties, what a sweet surprise! There were a range of delicious looking pasties, some with with fruits, chocolate, raspberry filling, pies, and more.
The second time, I came to work for a few hours and it was great. The wifi is strong and the cafe traffic didn't interrupt my work flow.
The third time, I came prepared to eat and fully work here for the day. I started off with a coconut water and asked for a croissant with their special scallion, salmon cream cheese. It's great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or quick pick me up before turning in for the day from work. I find it a great place to study, do writing and even goof off once in a while without the constant hustle and bustle of chain coffee houses.... service is great 7 days a week from open to close...convenient location in the heart of the Red Hook business district. Come sip and/or have a bite; either way you won't be...
Read moreI dropped into this café expecting a relaxing break, but it fell short. The atmosphere was average, with basic decor and nothing particularly inviting about the seating.
The coffee was mediocre. My cappuccino was too bitter, like they used burnt beans, and the foam was thin and watery. It didn't live up to the standard I'd hoped for.
Service was slow and seemed disorganized. It took ages to get served, and when I did, my order was wrong. The staff didn't seem bothered about fixing it promptly either.
Overall, it was a disappointing visit. If you're after a good coffee and decent service, I'd suggest...
