First off, I dislike writing bad reviews but my experience at Goog was terrible, I really hope management reads this. Part of it was probably due to the fact that it became busy a little after we arrived but that shouldn’t be an excuse - you should plan for situations like this. Plain and simple, you should bring out all main dishes together, especially in a group. There were 4 of us and the first two main dishes came out initially followed by the third dish 10 minutes later. My dish never arrived after 45 minutes and I was starving. Thankfully I got to eat a bit of everyone else’s food but even their food got cold since they were waiting for mine. When I asked just to cancel my dish after the 45 minutes, they said it was ready to come but they’d still have to charge me (which is fine) and they could box it for me.. Everyone else finished their food by this point and I just wanted to get out. Of course I don’t want to eat by myself or bring it home. I couldn’t even ask for the check because no one was around. I went up to the main hostess (I believe) and I can tell she was overwhelmed so I do apologize for the craziness of having an influx of people. My message to you management is to create some sort of buffer before seating people. If you have only so many cooks or staff, you know people are going to be waiting for a while for their food. It’s unreasonable to put a lack of organization onto your customers. The food was decent (from what I tried from others plates) since I don’t want to just state the negative. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone that’s coming during some sort of typical meal time, maybe you’ll have better luck if there’s one or two...
Read moreAs we strolled by, our eyes were drawn to the allure of a newly opened restaurant boasting charming outdoor seating at the rear. Eager to explore this culinary newcomer, we decided to give it a whirl. From the moment we stepped inside, the customer service exuded warmth and attentiveness, with staff displaying an impressive familiarity with the menu's intricacies. The array of cocktails on offer was indeed impressive, though regrettably, their execution did not match the anticipation they stirred.
Disappointingly, the menu options were fixed, prohibiting any alterations or substitutions to accommodate dietary preferences. Opting for the drunken noodle (Pad Kee Mao) adorned with shrimp, our anticipation peaked as the dishes arrived promptly. However, our enthusiasm waned upon the initial taste, as it became evident that the food had not received the meticulous attention it deserved in the kitchen. The shrimp, despite appearing adequately cooked, bore a disconcerting raw texture, while the noodles, lacking the characteristic signs of stir-frying, clung together in a pallid mass, indicating a lack of thorough cooking.
While hesitant to disparage the establishment, it is evident that there lies abundant potential within its walls. Yet, it is imperative that the kitchen staff devote greater care to ensuring the quality and consistency of the dishes they serve, thereby realizing the full promise of this...
Read moreMy son and daughter in law recently moved into a new apartment. Yeah...yeah...I know. Thank you. I'm so proud of them for sticking it out until the right place came along.
I'm a former electrician, and since their apartment only comes with two outlets, (one in each room) they asked me to add some extra outlets in their apartment. Happy to spend some bonding time with my two babies; graciously I agreed.
So they picked me up and we went to Lowes in Brooklyn, bought a bunch of items needed for the installations and then headed back. On the way to their new place, still in Brooklyn, we decided...hey...we could eat. So we looked for a place online near us. My daughter turns to me and says, "Mom you like Thai?" To which I replied..."Sure. I love sticky rice." so we landed up in Brooklyn at Somtum Der.
Fabulous! We opted to eat outside. Two other couples were in the area. The food was delicious. I remember the Wheatgrass juice. Refreshing. My daughter got the ice coffee, while my son chose Chai ice tea. For meals. I'm going to let me photos do my talking.
We loved our time there. The waitress was very kind and professional. This place is a repeat for sure. Not a big fan of Brooklyn... at...all. But for this place...I'll definitely have to swallow that previous sentence and go back for more. Mmm-mmm-mmm. Delicious.
Try Somtum Der
You'll love it.
